Simple strategy to get Vista to do what you want:
taskkill /IM SYSTEM
or:
destroy (through taskmgr.exe) every process that looks like an updater ...

Lembam: It would be useful to have a speech system oneyear. Not exactly like Microsoft's, or Apple's. BTW, there is plenty of stuff MS has gotten ideas from Apple on, and vice-versa. Haos: Thanks for the no MS idea ;) .

ReactX has been feverishly worked on by Magnus Olsen (GreatLord), and it is planned to have an initial ~DX8 or so (I think) release in 0.3.4, our next planned release. Okay: here is the fix: http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/ . It's called QEMU, I have no clue about VMWare, but QEMU is really good.

Whose to say something like this couldn't happen to ROS? (Imagine: Someone toys with our new, great update feature someone will create, and downloads WGA to every ROS system from the background?) Oops, best stay out of the "Random thoughts" range, sorry.

Uhh... sorry to be a disappointment, but ReactOS is _NOT_ a distrobution of Linux, Unix, Minix, or *. ReactOS is an attempt to completely recode the Windows kernel, the Win32k, and some apps, and run Windows drivers. No Linux.
