I really do like that. As with everything though, not everyone will. Its more a coding suggestion that a design one, but if the devs can make the GUI as theme-able / tweakable as possible rather than hardcoding one (like the NT codebase prior to XP) that would be the best way to keep people happy. H...

Interesting, I had heard about Red Flag linux ages ago (was it Dell selling it in China?) but I didnt realise it was themed like windows 2000 so heavily. It look like a standard theme on KDE though....

FreeBasic is rather good with the added bonus of doing C as well as backward compatibility with even QB! :) I have been meaning to test how the programs I have written in it work on ROS for a while now... however given they are all console applications I doubt there will be any problems. I will repo...

Hi, I like the idea for this however I cant seem to test it as the link is dead? Also I have tested some windows compiled code in ROS and found that some flavours of basic work (vb with the addition of a few files, freebasic and NBasic.) I am sure with (or hopefully without) tweaking it would run na...

Ok sorry for the delay. I have the week off work now so I finally have some free time. I want to test and see what difference the new release makes to the process before I write anything so give me a few days. :)

Apart from better thought out security models, the main reason that other oses suffer less from malware is because of market share. While ROS is still in the early stages, I very much doubt anyone will spent a lot of time trying to write platform specific viral /malware code.

I think it's ugly. A different ugly than the default WinXP theme, but nonetheless ugly (the seagreen makes me feel nauseous). My favourite GUI will remain Win2k's in that it's clean, efficient and isn't distracting. Yeah, I am really not too keen. Looks very over processed, now 2k was a good clean ...

Agreed, its a good program, but not really suitable for a total notepad replacement.

The site is back online :) Here's the conclusion: As a whole, I thought it was a fairly balanced review, albeit close to being an editorial at times, which is probably because of the unfinished state of ROS. It's hard to review an OS which can't be really used as such :) Lol this is true, but its n...

Re: Not too many votes...

Not to many people has voted in this thread, but according to the present vote there are more people with multicore/SMP then without, I don't think that is close to the truth, but I think that speaks about the importance of a ROS version that supports it. Lol kind of irritating when you put wiki li...
