Re: Idea: ReactOffice?

I would suggest trying to create the add-ons your desire with open office if you are not a fan of upgrading MS Office over time Although as someone who develops in office, I would say its unlikely upgrading will cause issues unless the add-on has some funky code that is using a known bug in office t...

Re: (it) "is a Windows 8 chip"

is it related to the windows 8 secure boot thing?

I might of imagined this, but i'm sure windows 8 allows locking down the bios to only allow booting with windows?

Re: Real people dealing with Windows 8

For me one of the biggest things I disliked about 8 over 7 was the lack of eye candy To some extent it may be considered hijacking the thread, but let's talk just a bit about "eye candy". Personally, I can't stand it. I disable all anymations, shadows, rouded corners, smooth scrolling, an...

Re: What draws people to Reactos?

the idea of developers comming together to create a free win32 os for the people is a pretty big draw for me :) the fact it is win32 based and not linux, also driver compatability driver compatability (again), i've noticed over time ms seems to restrict things with their os's now to prevent people f...

Re: Real people dealing with Windows 8

Hrmm I used windows 8 consumer preview for a couple of days, couldnt get on with it, in the end found a site that some guy had made to use the windows 7 explorer in 8, all of a sudden it became usable! I let my partner have a go at windows 8, she just got angry pretty quickly and gave up.... I did h...

Re: Possible to Install reactos to a VHD on real hardware?

Ah, I thought if it was a virtual drive it would just treat it like any other, didn't think of it needing to know anything else :(

Possible to Install reactos to a VHD on real hardware?

I just wondering if this is feasable, i've just tested the windows 8 consumer preview installed directly onto a virtual disk I never knew this could be done before, windows sets up the disk with the windows 7 boot loader and it just works, pretty impressive! would it be possible to boot reactos this...

Re: ReactOS Fundraising 2012

Just wanted to say, this doesn't add to the discussion. I have donated several years ago, not much, but I like to think it could still help, truth be told I forgot about this project, but i'm currently unemployed (hence why i've rediscovered It i think, more spare time!) but as soon as I can i'd lik...

Re: Installing Windows Service Packs

I thought about trying this before but just assumed it wouldn't work!

surely this is good for testing purposes? ok nearly all the files are ms this way but if everything works i'd be curious how it peforms vs native win2k and reactos 8-)

out of interest....has anyone tried the windows 2000 explorer? would it be legal? well if you've got windows 2000 I don't think it would be a big issue just to try it, I always thought some dev's might replace windows dll with reactos ones to test for compatbility and then try the windows ones in r...
