Re: Spanish Government Orders Open Sauce On Older Computers

Talking to people who can understand what ReactOS is and what it stands for: Yes. Talking to the government: No, no no. At any rate, this thread is more for general interest than a call-to-action. Sure, but I thought I should try to give you an overview of how things are and aren't in here. Just my...

Re: Spanish Government Orders Open Sauce On Older Computers

Offtopic. This has nothing to do with ReactOS directly. We should still contact their government and let them know we exist. Stories like this are opportunities for us to put in plugs and be heard. Too bad we didn't get to them sooner. If we can run on older computers and without oppressive license...

Re: Reactos Criticisms

From my point of view, the problem isn't what the function does, it's the mess within it. I know a function does X, so I expect to look at it and see it do X. However, that function calls a bunch of other functions, each of those calling other functions and others and others, etc. All of these funct...

Re: Reactos Criticisms

Might I but in the conversation? Well, I've already done it, so might as well proceed. For god's shake, I didn't know that people see us like tyrants. There is nothing to be afraid. Please do not take this the wrong way, but I know some people who do. They truly feel that they will instantly be sent...

Re: ReactOS 0.3.13...

Unfortunately, I think that Microsoft can freely make *their* products unusable on your operating system, if they say so in the requirements (which they do). What they can not do is force other companies to do so. Some EULAs has been declared abusive, so "saying something in the requirements" doesn...

Re: Last DAY to vote ReactOS in the OpenSourceWorld Conferen

This voting system is just pathetic. I embrace and love the open-source way of doing things, but this is just stupid. Hence, I shall not be voting for or against, I am sorry.

Re: Which your favorite programming language??

C and C++

They have come to where they are because they are fast and make sense. With C and C++ I can almost always visualize the assembly code as I type in C(++) code. With some other languages I just feel stuck in millions of layers and black-holes.

Re: my thoughts

This is funny, I can imagine Nute as someone just pooling for messages and then copy-and-pasting them onto a random thread that involves him. He then fills in random citations and flames someone. It's as if he couldn't read -- just write. Good for you, you've made me laugh for around a year. I think...

Re:

For example, FreeLdr might need (or use, but not specifically need) some C RTL functions. But there's no way to link to it without doing a static link which makes the binary size too large. It is statically linked, it does not make the binary size too large. Even if it weren't, it would always be a...

Re:

There's a lot of duplicated code, both at small scale and at large scale. This is one of things I don't like. I think that's one of the issues that needs to be fixed before tons of features are implemented. It will be harder to do it after there's even more and more code/code-duplication. Something...

Re: Duplicated code

I'm inclined to believe the stuff in the bootloader is there because you don't have access to the higher level libraries when you're still booting the operating system. This is probably ridiculous, but wouldn't using a static lib and sharing it in between the different higher and low level componen...
