Please do not require password to run programs or do system tasks. It seems stupid, when I am the only user on a PC. This is not linux, and linux is NOT perfectly secure. Trust me there are problems with linux but it's no use to argue. Passwords and "paranoia" messages do not HELP security...

Ok "comfort" was a bad choice of words. I like "security with the least amount of pain" better. And it is painful to type a password too often. Maybe two versions is best. you can't be sure that there isn't a security problem that allows unauthorized programs to run Can't we lowe...

Same with me I use XP minus service packs, some services disabled, and I use Firefox+Firewalls and various malware scanners. No malware problems for a long time now. "Asking for the password is a way to ensure that the same user who logged in is still sitting behind the computer, and no...

I'm no expert, but there must be better ways to handle security. So Linux pops up password boxes. What if it was a simple "Are you sure?" box where they can click yes instead of typing a pass? The user still has the final word on what runs, and it's less annoying. A more advanced way would...

My 2 cents B), E) C) as many as possible ! A) last one A) Finally get around to updating the website B) Updating the blogs at blogs.reactos.com more often D) Releasing more ReactOS releases (less inter-build time) It's good so far, but getting the word out on the project to attract more developers i...

I don't like Linux especially ubuntu distros. I hate to type sudo and my password all the time for every little thing. I fell like I should be able to do whatever I need to do without getting password promts like it is in windows. There has to be a better way to do security then that. It's true most...

It worked! I have a Dev-Cpp project generated from the rbuild.exe in the /tools directory.. but it was hard to make since there's a bug in rbuild source (it chops off the first two chars of the path when "checking dependancies" ! ). That little bug makes it tedious to do.. Maybe I'll try t...

Hmm I'm not sure about what you said about Dev-Cpp... I update it's mingw myself and simply use it as an IDE. That or MingwStudio. I'd like to have projects for either of those sometime. It can make life easier for those having trouble with the makefile. I think you're right! I haven't tried it but ...

...And even if MS did come out with some magical new system, an open source OS based on NT seems very cool to me!

I'm with anyone who said "get it working first, worry about this later, this is not something for the ReactOS team to write"

check out the IRC channel #reactos at freenode if you want to speak with current devs. Hmm well I don't feel qualified seeing how I just got here. I'm not too big on IRC either. I'm just checking out the sources now and thinking about installing on my spare partition so I can test some programs. Tr...

Understatments  I'm also new and just ran a couple times from the LiveCD. It acted just like Win98 for me...froze both times while browsing files, and I had to hold the power button on my PC to reboot. I do like how fast it booted..quicker than Linux. Is the LiveCD a bad way to test? Where can...

Hi no I logged on and tried to reply to a post, but each time I was returned to the index. It happened again during my visit here, right when I clicked "post" it acted like I hit the back button. I was able to post elsewhere, so maybe it was some time based anti spambot thing. (I'm on Fire...
