It's an Audigy 2 ZS with the ca0102 chip. Sounds good and not too expensive :-)

Re: Reactos as Jukebox

Yeah, I had little luck with .3.9, as my soundcard isn't really generic... I'm just going to keep trying, hopefully .3.10 or .3.11 will work :)

Reactos as Jukebox

Hello all! First of all, let me say this: I'm really impressed with how ReactOS is still going strong, as things really could've been worse (and I've feared they would be for some time). I've been around ROS a bit longer, however I've been quite inactive on the forums ever since .3.2 or so now. That...

And maybe provide an API for seamless integration so that it can be even more seamless, there must be ways an OS can support this better (it can be done with several OSes right now, but not through APIs that were really meant for it I think?)...

I wonder why people often put Video and audio players into the same pot. I have an audio player runnung >90% of the time I'm on my PC. It must be leightweight, hide in the systray and be able to manage a huge bunch of mp3s and play internet radio. MusikCube is my choice here. (2MB mem and ~0% cpu) ...

Well, where did you read it? I can write that on my blog, but it doesn't directly make it true. Also that it can't be protected by copyright doesn't mean Microsoft won't try to make your life miserable by suing your ass of...

Microsoft markets it as being open: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/xps/default.mspx And according to wikipedia, it's actually quite open: In order to encourage wide use of the format, Microsoft has released XPS under a royalty-free patent license, allowing users to create implementations of the speci...

I can't judge that better than you, and you probably know what you're talking about. But there are some smart people out there that can also help changing ROS as ROS is open source, and we all know Windows isn't :P

Most of the lot of windows floating about are left overs from early X11 gui design. Gimp windows everywhere design is hated so much that there is a fork called gimpshop. Problem with GTK is the idea of windows everywhere starts at the standard GUI editor. http://glade.gnome.org/screenshots.html So ...

It's difficult, if not impossible to improve on the design of some of the smartest programmers on the planet. I think people underestimate the skill of the MS core devs, and the brilliance of the NT design. I thought of it not really as improving the core design, but more improving the way it is im...

I could imagine (not being a developer, true) that as soon as binary compatibility is fully realised the devteam could look into making a better implementation of the WNT design than Microsoft, without breaking binary compatibility ofcourse. But that's years away.

SdC no all the Linux world is security smart. Ubuntu does enable support for windows exe's default using binfnt_misc. So they do run everywhere including root. The binfnt_misc script can be coded to stop root running. There is a big split at moment in the security of distrobutions. LesThor linux wo...

Re: suggestion - file server

If it would be possible to make a file server stable distribution, ReactOS could be useful right now. I think something like this would increase markedly the interest in ReactOS. I agree that as soon as the kernel of ReactOS is stable it could already be used for some dedicated purposes, as an FTP ...
