Re: Instant messaging software
Tbh, I have to put my vote into Pidgin as well, even though it's built on top of GTK. Most well known cross-platform open source software use GTK, such as Pidgin, Gimp, Inkscape, and others. And besides, most *nixes comes preloaded with it. SIM is built on top of QT and resembles a complex version o...

Why is everyone going on about replacing stuff that you can actually download and install yourself later on? It's no rocket science, and if regular windows users are gonna feel comfortable, it must look and act as closely to windows as possible. I am currently the main developer of bbClean, a bb4win...

Microsoft Scripting engine might not be usable in all places. Lot of Microsoft stuff is licenced Windows only. This does exclude Linux and Reactos from using them legally in some countries. The scripting host is available as a separate download since it wasn't initially included with all XP systems...

I assume that full COM support will be implemented eventually? I have code laying around (that I haven't worked on for a while) which basically is a mashup between IIS and Apache. No fancy administration GUIs and stuff, but just a service and a bunch of XML configuration files. It uses the Microsoft...

We need a secure file system that a OS can be installed on more than NTFS at moment. So Ext2... or something like it might turn up functional before NTFS. We heard you the first time :) hehe. I guess we can live with just FAT support until NTFS support is fully implemented. After that, just about a...

According to this 3ad pool , ROS will be used mainly for Multimedia/Gamming . Hm you must have totally missed the release of Windows Vista -- or as most people prefer to call it, the last nail in the coffin for Microsoft. The thing is that when Windows XP loses support, updates, etc. people will ha...

Hope this doesn't qualify as gravedigging ;) NTFS is not just any filesystem. You (MadWolf) are comparing it to FAT32 here, which I find just totally wrong. Directory security with NTFS is dependant on the filesystem rather than the system itself. FAT32 can easily be read if you just stuff the drive...

bbLean and alternative shells
Does ReactOS support alternative shells at this point? For example bbLean (http://www.lostinthebox.com).
