oiaohm is on the right lines for what im after, an extra boot mode would be ideal. The hard work has allready been done, allowing you to run reactos from a Live CD. i will try copying the files from the CD to my hard drive and see if that works, but i still need to be sure that it is not writing to ...

I wasnt joking when i said that the CF card only just fit, its already wedged in at a funny angle, the SD adaptor just wont fit.

There must be some setting that will allow me to make ReactOS think the hard disk is readonly...

I could try that, but i already have a 2gig CF card and the SD to CF adaptor is too large to fit in my case, the CF card only just fits. I am running an ITX setup in a really small case.

You miss understand, the CF card is mounted as a hard disk, not connected as a CF card, ReactOS thinks its an IDE drive. the problem i have is that i need to FORCE ReactOS to use it as readonly, the card has read and write access. is there a registry option or something in reactos that sets it to be...

I would like to run ReactOS from a Compact Flash card, CF cards only have a certain number of write cycles before they break, so i need to basicly make ReactOS readonly, and never write back to the CF card (which is mounted as a hard disk) I have used windows xp embeded and they have a special write...
