Re: What is happening with the kernel?

Kernel32 is not the kernel.

Re: processor ...

Hi, L2 cache is something the processor manages directly. The OS will read this information and perhaps expose it to query APIs to allow better run-time optimization, and it might even use the value internally for allocating data structures, but these are just tiny optimizations that aren't required...

I'd love to order it. The Amazon page has a TOC and a scan of a page which has my code on it.

Re: BuildBot - ntdll winetest suite

A bug report doesn't have to be a stack trace.

The fact a revision broke a test is good grounds for a bug report.

If you don't file them, they'll never get fixed.

Re: NT Tutorials?

5th edition is about NT6. ReactOS is NT5. It's why 5th edition is not important for ReactOS. Did you even read my blog article (btw: I am the co-author of both the book and the ReactOS kernel)? It explicitly mentions how the 5th Edition fixed errors regarding older editions, and added content of ex...

Re: Concerned about win32k rewrite...

Also, since TurboTax is short-lived, seasonal software, what prevents you from obtaining a free* copy of Windows instead, to perform the same task? * At any point in time, there can be at least 2-3 different ways to legitimately obtain a copy of Windows, be it: a) Current beta of a major release (fo...

Re: Concerned about win32k rewrite...

What would be the benefit, in your case, to have to boot a full blown OS, requiring its own drivers, security policies, and management (let alone taking into consideration the probably bugginess) for TurboTax, instead of using VMWare Fusion with Unity view, or (if lucky) Codeweavers Wine to run Turb...

Re: Obf / Ob and similar

Obf and Iof are Fastcall versions of the Ob/Io functions. They are only available on x86 and are an optimization to reduce the stack space of callers (since internally, on x86, an Ob/Io call will go to Obf/Iof, saving 8 precious bytes of stack, and reducing the number of cycles required). On other p...

Re: NT Tutorials?

I've never said not to buy the 5th Edition, I have no idea what the f*ck you're talking about.

I posted a 5-6 page blog article on why the 5th Edition is awesome and you should buy it.

Re: Where is int 0x2e interrupt service routine implemented?

Apart from being utterly wrong about how Windows/ReactOS does system calls on any machine newer than a Pentium 166MHz and giving links to outdated (1997), specific bugs in NT 4 (and then saying the whole "inteface" is is 'insecure'), you called the ONLY link that is of -any- value: "u...

You have to learn to be less paranoid, dude. I did write "The Microsoft Files" in the body. "Allegations" in English doesn't mean the same thing as in French. In English, someone makes "allegations", then they are resolved. Read news, you'll always find things like &quo...
