Re: Reactos paid version.

That's not how open source works. Please search for "can you charge for Linux" topics. Tons of information there on what is allowed and not with open source licensing. It also wouldn't help progress anything faster.

Re: Why the negativity everywhere?

About it being a "Russian" project - not true if you look at the developers... Why always the same story, over and over. Because they're literally children with no reading comprehension. They probably couldn't define "open source" if they were asked to. Welcome to the era of chi...

Re: ReactOS is being needlessly inefficient by using clean-room when it's not legally required

just email Linus, how he can gather people to clone UNIX, without being finally charged (but they do got sued), and can wipe off the UNIX. we can simply follow the same? No, because Unix code was published and publicly available. Hence the 2000+ clones of it out there, and why just about every hobb...

1:00 "OS/5 Desktop 1.0 is a DOS shell program"

It's not an OS, just an overlay for DOS. Probably no shortage of those around.

Re: How to Implement Conditional Rendering in React Components?

Trademarks that aren't defended are trademarks that are lost. Their logo is pretty much in every beginner chemistry textbook in the world, and doesn't seem to be trademarked. It would be arrogant, and a complete waste of time to go after everyone that uses some mockup of an atom. Plus our logo has ...

Re: The one killer app missing from React OS

Putin's consulters might prefer Deepin, a Chinese out-of-the-box Linux distribution, or any other Linux or BSD distribution. Who else is old enough to remember when China blocked new technologies from entering and tried to promote their own Linux distro before the PC market was established? It ende...

Re: ReactOS is being needlessly inefficient by using clean-room when it's not legally required

Honestly I've only skimmed his response because it's just not worth it. Take the case he cited: Sony Computer Entertainment v. Connectix Corporation, this was not heard or ruled on by the Supreme Court, it was settled privately between parties, thus it is far from some end all be all ruling that he ...

Unless, of course, one is fine with this being a "VM only OS", as likely will be the fate of FreeDOS.
Oh, I've seen it being used on factory floors with new PCs (whether it was MSDOS or FreeDOS, I don''t know). There's always a company that refuses to pay for updating their software.

Re: Run Dragon Naturally Speaking ver 9

As said, ReactOS is still alpha stage. You'd most likely just be wasting a license activation so no one is likely to have tried it. I'm a little surprised they're still around as all the AI assistants and Windows 10+ have speech dictation built in, just have to be connected to the internet.

Re: ReactOS is being needlessly inefficient by using clean-room when it's not legally required

The fact you set out with a conclusion already in mind before you started studying court rulings means your legal advice is worthless. To actually be an expert you have to know all the laws first, and court rulings second. Unfortunately you've shown that you're going to warp your interpretation of b...

Re: Stage alpha or beta

I understand how hard it is to write something like this, however, I do agree that this is taking an unreasonable amount of time. The problem is by the time this OS even makes it to beta, the entire architecture is going to change. X86 is quickly dying whether you realize it or not and the entire i...

Re: A little help

any updates? The problem is you can basically spend infinite money on ReactOS and not see any results within 5 years. When it comes to selecting where to spend money, ReactOS is far too much of a moon shot that would sink all your money for no return, so at the moment encouraging people to setup sm...

Re: A little help

I assume you're confusingly posting this as a possible funding source, but for some reason posting a 5 minute Youtube video instead of the link in the description: https://futo.org/fellows/ Maybe they'll donate some money to ReactOS, but I highly doubt it as they seem to be mainly interested in bein...

At the event, Microsoft announced that it has bought Canonical, the parent company of Ubuntu Linux, and shut down Ubuntu Linux forever. … Along with acquiring Canonical and killing Ubuntu It's not offensive,...
