Re: reactos priority? or mess?

X512, you are a coder, if you are concerned with the stage of some critical parts of ROS, then unlike most of local complainers, you can help - just consider participating in fixing those horrendous defficiencies inside of ROS.

Re: Disk Drives vs. Mount Points ?.

Windows-versions inherit the odd system of disk drive letters from the old CP/M Unix-versions (Solaris, Linux, BSD, BeOS, MacOS X, NextStep, ...) don't have this nonelastic system of drive letters for addressing. The file system is here independent of the hardware. The hardware (disks, floppies, cd...

Re: Little idea about 64 bit problem

d1zt3mp3r is not one, who decides anything on ROS development direction, actually, there is no "underestimation" of the 64 bit version importance among those, who really decide something here, what is - the lack of developers. IIUC, there is only 1 real developer, who works on 64 bits - Timo Kreuzer.

Re: Why Reactos is so much Linux-like?

> btw, where people, that can do all these icons/logos hang out on the Internet? I have made some Linux icons before for a distro I was contributing to. I would love to contribute icons to ReactOS. How can I do this though, since icons in Windows are embedded into the DLLs? Does ReactOS have a mean...

Re: Why Reactos is so much Linux-like?

if you mean some icons look, then make the better looking, it would be appreciated. other, than that, you are wrong, ReactOS is nothing like linux. btw, where people, that can do all these icons/logos hang out on the Internet? devianart? I see, d1zt3mp3r showed a link to that resource, never was the...

Re: Making ReactOS a better experience in VM. Could you ship ReactOS with hardware drivers for hardware that is virtuali

qemu sucks compared to VBox/VMWare, so your free advertisement of qemu hardly will make effect. and how, the fact debian removed VBox is related to the choice of what VM software ReactOS supports in the first place? I can respond to your argument, that most people use Windows (and VBox/VMWare for Re...

Re: Read this if you've found software useful to ReactOS

Maybe this power is wasted. Windows is dying, ask Microsofts developers, especially in Munich. Read the press of last years: https://www.techradar.com/news/is-windows-dying https://www.zdnet.com/article/in-2018-windows-died-at-home-and-nobody-cared/ ... dude, have you read those articles? local "xp...

Re: A dumb hypothetical about the legality of someone documenting Windows XP

this project is afraid painfully to get sued by MS for using leaked Windows code. and while personally I believe MS couldn't care less about all this, still at least for not giving the food for those idiots, popping up regularly and babbling about "ReactOS using stolen code" and hfirefox anime dude ...

Re: Why is ReactOS based on a 17-year-old version of Windows?

Win9x family is just as a proper OS as NT. What all these have in common? well after windows 2000 we just have adds and mods and nothing more So yes many things in windows 2000 might work on windows 10, why? well due to compatibility, windows 10 is not something new, it's base is still on NT kernel,...

you know, if you decided, that shitting modern versions of Windows is a cool way to introduce yourself over here and look as a "homie", you definitely haven't hit. there are people, that might be on the same page, but as well, there definitely are ones, that won't appreciate this shitstorm tone. it'...

Re: Why is ReactOS based on a 17-year-old version of Windows?

But the Kernel doesn't change a lot since decades
are you really sure? or it's just how you think it is, based on...? it has changed a lot, even on the exposed API level. that's why it's infeasible now to retarget ROS to, say, Vista, let alone Win 10.

Re: Will something like linux swap partitons be on ReactOS?

The title says it all. they are not linux and not swap. it's a partition used to throw there process pages, when RAM becomes scarce. so it's not swapping. swapping an entire working set of one process to another one's was a unixy thing in 70ths, hence the name. what is now, would be more correctly ...

Re: Original Microsoft OpenSource Windows parts

And if Microsoft know, that Windows could be a little bit faster and smaller, by simply changing the compiler, who belives, that they would stay on its Visual C++? I am wondering, have you actually read the post in the link you showed as a "proof" that clang is better? where actually clang is compa...

I just helped giving him the link anyway, no "blowing up", it looked very suspicious, that a st...

Re: Telegram Desktop ends support of Windows XP

quim, why you search info on a WinAPI function on a whine site, instead of where it really belongs? where it is perfectly documented . that "not documeted" on the whine site means, that they (whiners) all are c00l h4ck3rz and writing documentation is not for them and totally not, that MS hid the spe...
