Re: ROS applications

Thank you very much!
That was exactly the info I wanted. Now I can experiment with them. And maybe even improve them.

ROS applications

Hello fellow ReactOSers, Is there somewhere a list of all applications that are developed by the ReactOS project? (Both system parts and end user applications which aren't neccessary for maintaining ReactOS) I know of the Application Manager and iexplore.exe. And I guess file explorer, registry edit...

Re: Mouse works and browsing doesn't

2.) Either the network or iexplore.exe doesn't work. There is just an empty page in the browser. Also there is no start menu entry for iexplore.exe. There is no true Internet Explorer in ReactOS. I'd recommend to install any other browser from Application Manager. 3.) And ReactOS keeps nagging abou...

Mouse works and browsing doesn't

Hi all ROSers, 1.) Just for the records: After I have plugged in the PS/2-USB adapter my mouse works fine. Maybe a worthy alternative for others until USB is ready? (But don't buy the normal USB plug - PS/2 socket adapters, it must be the other way round...) 2.) Either the network or iexplore.exe do...

Re: Open source DirectX?

... it is harder to find people who are willing and able to put the ideas into use. Exactly. I would like to program an open source DirectX, but I think I don't have the necessary coding skills, at least not to do that alone. I would need to know about Windows internals, Windows drivers, 3D hardwar...

Open source DirectX?

Hi again, I googled for an open source clone of DirectX. But I only found: - a strange Facebook page - an attempt targeted to Linux, not to Windows I also searched this forum: "Search found 1109 matches: directx" And I was unable to see through ALL of them. I only found this: https://www.reactos.org...

Re: Testing on real hardware 2019

I downloaded and installed getbuild (0.4.13). When quoting the revision that you are testing, it is better to quote the part of the full revision, that I have highlighted in bold (below) and not just 0.4.13 reactos- bootcd-0.4.13-dev-343-ga73c17f-x86-gcc-lin-dbg .7z When creating a Jira Issue, that...

Re: Testing on real hardware 2019

Could the second computer be a tablet with USB, with a serial<->USB adapter cable? I have no experience with a serial to USB adapter, so all I can say is, give it a try. The tablet will need a terminal app to capture the debug output. A little trick to try to get the mouse pointer to work, is to ke...

Re: Testing on real hardware 2019

I downloaded and installed getbuild (0.4.13). And everything worked fine (except the mouse of course).
I didn't have to disable Audio in BIOS! :)

Re: Testing on real hardware 2019

Try the latest build at the getbuilds page. hdaudbus is a known problem. If audio can be disabled in the bios, disable it and try again (I have read were this as been suggested). For serious testing you will need a null modem cable (if your test computer has a serial port) and a second computer wit...

Testing on real hardware 2019

Sorry for posting in the old thread in my last post. I simply followed an instruction in the documentation to post to that thread. OK, here now a better info of my hardware system, using Google (or Duckduckgo) for "hardware info" on my xubuntu Linux: EDIT: Using the BootCD 0.4.11, installed ROS to f...

Three questions

Hi all,
Three questions from a new user:

1.) Is there a way to move the mouse pointer with keys?

2.) What is the "normal" mode (in contrast to the "screen" mode) good for?

3.) Is there a generic Ethernet driver?

Re: ROS testing on real hardware

Hi Reactors, well here is my test report: It more or less worked on my machine. My USB mouse doesn't work but that isn't a surprise. Is there a program running on ReactOS (or Linux) telling me about my hardware? I am willing to describe my hardware in more detail if someone names me such a program. ...

ReactOS Installer

Is the ReactOS installer on the Boot CD ontop of ReactOS or low level (pre-OS environment)? Or maybe ontop of DOS?

I'm asking because I'm interested in "porting" the installer to the Live CD.

Kind regards
Peter

.NET

Ok, I've learned that perhaps getting rid of MS Windows in favor of ROS might not be such a bad idea after all. But I have program that I want to use. It doesn't run with Wine on Linux. It needs .NET 2 0. So: How well is .NET supported onReactOS? I know of Mono and Microsoft's Package, but I tried b...
