Re: So impressed by ReactOS 0.4.14

I am a bit confused here. You refer to ReactOS 0.4.14 but on the website latest available release is 0.4.12. Where did you get your 0.4.14 from? It's a development build not a real release yet. Those builds are nightlies from the latest master on Github. Anything from master right now is .4.14, bec...

Yeah, I think I misread the first part of your sentence.
It's nothing, and maybe it's because of me. I'm not English native and sometimes I use a word for another, or use unusual syntax.

Re: ReactOS updater

Yes, but if there is a server for update of ReactOS, it would be very good. So you mean like remote updates across an entire local network? Yes, that would be great in an enterprise environment. And my earlier comment about BITS was concerning 3rd-party software that uses it. I am pretty sure that ...

And it is not even an option at this point. Even if the updaters were compatible, and even if ROS could accept their upgrades, XP and 2003 support are long gone.

Do you have try with the compatibility mode?
You can force NT6 compatibility, sometimes it works for some software.

Re: Update Manager and compatibility?

You can find the answer on the homepage of the website of ReactOS : "They're talking about ReactOS 0.4.12 (even if we're just Alpha) ".

Maybe you don't know what is an Alpha sowftware ?
Alpha means, it's the first step of development, it's very far away for a daily usage.

If I want to install the latest version of Firefox, what needs to be replaced on my system?
ReactOS is not ready to replace Windows for the moment, the system is currently in development. For the latest Firefox, there are lot of features not implemented in ReactOS, it's for that you can't use it.

Re: New Windows-like Kali Linux theme

If you want to use an illegal theme nobody stop you, but it's impossible to implement it in the system for right reasons. I'm pretty sure this theme is not a built in Kali Linux theme. I think it could be a third party theme take on a customization website.

Yes and no, the client and server are present, but the Active Directory features of Samba are only built in on Windows Server only, not for Windows Desktop.

Re: New Windows-like Kali Linux theme

Kali Linux is not a small noname distribution. If Kali doing it, than it is legal. And if it is legal for Kali, then it is legal for ReactOS, too. Maybe Kali Linux is not a noname distribution, but there is no link with the fact is legal or not. For example, Ubuntu add the MP3 drivers in the past a...

Re: SAMBA, Cygwin, and appcompat

A native version of Samba 4.11 would be better. I wonder why they didn't make one for Windows?
