Re: OFFICIAL POLL: *Your* priorities.

IMHO, as a mere user who toyed a bit under QEMU 1) B 2) A, B : network, because a PC without network is nearly useless nowadays, and sound because a mute PC is quite boring too. And C for the drivers needed to do A and B. 3) C, and I have the feeling that C => A :) 4) the killer app for me would be ...

Re: Exploder

I do see no acceptable reason for cloning the "Exploder", or even using it. It is not only buggy (the MS's one), but also highly misconcepted, and totally obsolete ( I do NEVER use it). So I would prefer developing the kernel, and the SW / HW / Drivers compatibility. Do not BUY / CRACK / ...

I used 98SE till recently (best OS of the win 9x line), and I now use win server 2003 (best of the NT line, even if it's just an updated windows 2000). not really a legit version, but I guess most home users who have win 2000 did not pay for it ;) (or windows XP pro corporate for that matter). Like ...

there should be at least a ftp client, in order to go to ftp.mozilla.org the old ftp from BSD (which is in linux AND windows :)) can do the job, but integration of FTP to ROS explorer (ftp only, not web :P ) would be better for non technical users. eh, I'll do that next time I have to install Window...

yes, I think an opensource firewall should be included, would do a lot for security (though not having internet explorer, remote login, RPC etc. is already quite a good thing :))

forum bug when replying

anyone noticed a bug with the Post Reply button?
sometimes it takes me repeatedly to root index instead of the reply window.

also occurs on beyon3D (which is the same forum), very annoying when that happens..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v688/rastilin/startmenu.jpg As you can see I do absolutely nothing, I believe the original Windows default works fine. To be honest I don't really mind what happens, if the default GUI works ok then I won't bother editing it. It might help you to understand me if y...

Yes, it may be a FS limitation. not from FAT or NTFS, but from ISO 9660 :) : that's the FS of CD and DVD, and it supports file size up to 2GB.

if you still can't create a > 2GB iso using only "small" files, then I don't know. the iso file itself can be well over 2GB.

you will still be able to use shell replacements made for windows, such as Litestep (the most widely known). Just like you can run ROS explorer in windows as the shell ;) There are 3D desktops being developed for windows, SphereXP is one of them http://www.hamar.sk/sphere/ I'm going to try it, I hop...

yes, even if Unix is older, DOS is to be compared with the 8 inch floppy microcomputer era :) (I still love DOS, and it's way better than a cheap 8bit computer with only a BASIC interpreter). Unix/linux is more to compared with the NT kernel (which one is better, it's a religion war, NT may be more ...

It still does (IA64 and AMD64 versions of XP and 2003; and I guess the Xbox2 which is PPC will have some NT kernel)
