Re: I want to support, but first I need to know if I can...

Yeah, this will still take a while before you can try such things. Right now best success with drivers are the Windows 2003/XP ones. VMs except QEMU are not really working. OEM install would be modifying thwe source in our case I fear. These support is there and we have a few for selection,so if yo...

Re: 60 specific reasons for wanting ReactOS:

Nothing taken personally, none of your suggestions changes a thing. I don't think you really quite 'get it'. The only one I might change is number 57 if that is proven to be so. This functionality was removed in Vista and as far as I know has never been returned. Nothing changes, these are all stil...

Re: 60 specific reasons for wanting ReactOS:

1. Safe browsing in a virtual ReactOS sandbox (Firefox) Windows 10 now has a Sandbox so this isn't really a difference anymore. 9. A platform that I can build into any x86/AMD64 computer by default. What does this even mean? I have had many systems with Windows and never had any issues with x86/AMD6...

Re: ReactOS built in C# (crazy idea)

The opinion mentioned above is still valid and will not change C# is a toy for user mode and not for a OS kernel/core SharpOS and Cosmos would disagree with that. However, I agree ReactOS should stay with C/Assembly. If anything, I would rather see it rewritten in Rust or Go. C/C++ is the most popu...

Thank you. I'm waiting for it.
Why wait? You can download .4.13 now and test if you want: https://www.reactos.org/getbuilds/

Re: ReactOS on my notebook!(USB storage worked)

YouTube doesn't support all CC licenses (= "stole" your contents). Yes. That´s a disadvantage of YouTube, it has some kind of propietary licence: they own your content. The idea it to be under Creative Commons paradigm licence for everyone. Corporate YouTube does not comply with CC thinking. Youtub...

Re: ReactOS on my notebook!(USB storage worked)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cuwWOGkhV8 Could you show more videos of your tests? Could you also upload them in vimeo? Why Vimeo? YouTube is perfectly fine. 1. Vimeo is ad free. While most people have adblockers these days, on really old systems, ad blockers have a reverse effect and actually s...

Re: GSoC 2019

They got 9 more days to finish (maybe a day or 2 extra since the mentors have until September 2nd to submit all work). Anyways, anyone know what happened to the 3rd guy? He is not listed on the main ReactOS GSOC page anymore https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/organizations/5144807102480384/ I was h...

Re: Can the following programs run on ReactOS?

Let's get back on topic. A discussion of firewall software suitable to try with ReactOS deserves a topic of its own. That's exactly what we been doing? Anyways, a hardware firewall is good, but I wouldn't use it as a only firewall. First of all, hardware firewalls were designed to work with a softw...

What about firewalls? Here are 3 XP compatible Firewalls from oldapps.com. Untested by me, so it is up to you to test. http://www.oldapps.com/old_version_Tiny_Personal_Firewall.php http://www.oldapps.com/comodo_firewall.php http://www.oldapps.com/Outpost_Firewall.php That site is severely outdated,...

Re: Can the following programs run on ReactOS?

None that I know of that are still being updated for WinXP. Guess you will have to make do with a outdated one until the ReactOS team gets a working firewall built in.

VirutalBox lets your redirect traffic but I do not think it has an actual firewall.

Re: ReactOS didn't work on 5 computers: BSOD

When does it BSOD? When it tries to load setup? When you are trying to partition? During desktop?

.4.11 is kind of old now. You should try .4.12 or the latest nightly, which have a number of BSOD fixes, and see if it still happens.

Re: Can the following programs run on ReactOS?

The only anti-virus that offers real time protection for free that I can think of and still gets both database and application updates is Panda anti-virus cloud free. There are 2 others that, while they do not get any more application updates for WinXP, they still get database updates though, is Imm...

Re: Open source DirectX?

Is it possible to salvage anything from something like DXVK? Maybe it could be easier/better to try and get Vulkan drivers to work on ReactOS then just use DXVK for direct x libraries.

Re: [BREAKING] CERN’s Microsoft Alternative project

A developer would have to contact CERN project and I am sure that they are probably well aware of ReactOS. I mean, we are posted everywhere these days: linux news, distrowatch, osnews, softpedia, cnet, various wiki pages, phoronix and most recently HelloTux. There is even Facebook, twitter, and redd...
