In Windows XP, the $END attribute is just 0xFFFFFFFF00000000. It certainly compatible with newer Windows, not sure about opposite.

Be careful about File System Forensic Analysis. As far as I remember, there are few errors. You need universal ExtendAttribute function, cause Data is not the only attribute you will have to extend. To resize a file, you also need to modify it's index in the directory, which contains a copy of it's ...
