Will ReactOS have Active Directory and Group Policy?
Since ReactOS is targeting Windows Server 2003, does that mean the server tools such as Active Directory and Group Policy are also planned or does it mean that ReactOS will be able to install software that Windows Server 2003 can? Having ReactOS as a domain controller would be impressive. I have a f...

Successful USB Install - Good job vgal (and others helping)!
I tested out one of the newer ReactOS versions that vgal has been sharing for USB installs and it appears to be working great! I tried it on four different laptops. Two of them were newer netbooks and they didn't want to install ReactOS, but it is most likely due to hardware compatability and not be...

Re: ReactOS 0.4.5 freezes on boot screen
Just from personal experience I would make sure to unplug and turn off any unneeded devices for booting. For example if you have a usb mouse plugged in, unplug it. If your laptop has a physical switch to turn the wifi on and off, turn it off. I've tested ReactOS on some old ThinkPad laptops and all ...

Re: Laptop,Wifi & reactos
I have a Lenovo T61 and when you turn the hardware switch on for the wifi ReactOS instantly freezes. It also can't boot when it is turned on. I haven't had a chance to look into it further. There isn't a serial port so I have a feeling getting debug logs will be hard.

Re: Blank Screen when finished loading "boot FIles"
A big question I have for you is how are you attempting to install ReactOS? Are you using a built in CD drive or USB booting (that includes a USB external CD drive). I would also unplug any unnecessary USB devices and use a PS/2 keyboard and mouse while installing. The USB stack/stuff is still being...

Re: Have never gotten ReactOS to boot. Not today either!
Sadly USB booting is basically a no-go currently. Personally I use a single CD+R which means you can reuse the CD multiple times. Also when I say USB booting doesn't work, that involves other USB devices. You can't use a USB external CD drive either. I would also unplug any unnecessary USB devices a...

Re: ReactOS install
I agree with the above post. I've used VirtualBox with ReactOS. Not to say that Hyper-V can or can't work. It's just that VirtualBox is more commonly used in the ReactOS community and you will find more documentation and help. Also USB booting is basically a no go currently. CD/DVD drives will work....

Re: Unable to Install Reactos
It's most likely because that model laptop doesn't have a built in CD/DVD drive and you are using a USB CD/DVD drive I assume? USB things don't work the greatest and you won't be able to using a USB port even if it is a CD/DVD drive and not a flash drive. If you don't have another computer to test i...

Re: ReactOS donating how fast can developing of reactos be?
I think one things the people get so caught up on is thinking that ReactOS is an exact clone of Windows Server 2003 and will have everything completely the same right down to the flaws that Windows Server 2003 had. This is not the case. ReactOS is it's own OS that will aim for software and hardware ...

Re: Audio not working. Would like to troubleshoot further.
Darn. I would start using ReactOS on my old laptop (it runs great!) but I never realized how important having sound was until I didn't have it. Wish I could contribute more to the audio development. It's way out of my expertise though.

Re: Does Audio work in VirtualBox?
I've been successful in getting the audio to work in one of the builds right before 0.4 was released. All I did was set the audio hardware to be AC97 and then installed the driver. I don't remember installing guest additions? I had to reboot multiple times, about 3-4 before audio worked as well. I h...

Audio not working. Would like to troubleshoot further.
I have a laptop that uses the SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio. ReactOS installs fine but my audio device does not show up in the device manager anywhere. If I copy the hdaudbus.sys and hdaudbus.inf from XP and install it in the device manager as the driver for the existing High Definition Audio...

What testing is most helpful for developers?
Hello everyone! I've recently found out about ReactOS and think it is a great project. I would like to help out by being a tester. I'm a little confused on what the focus of my testing should be. It seems right now people just test random things and then report it on JIRA. I feel though that the dev...
