Re: Intel to ditch CSM from UEFI in 2020, effects on ROS??

OSses that were developed with only a BIOS-based system firmware architecture in mind How do you know that? "Coreboot guys" told you that BS? These OSes were based on the previous versions capable running on Alpha, PPC and MIPS architectures, none of which had BIOS FW. And these systems w...

Intel to ditch CSM from UEFI in 2020, effects on ROS??

Hi all, As per TT, Intel has announced at the latest UEFI plugfest on sept 2017 that they plan on removing the CSM module from UEFI, moving any implementation to class 3.0(+) from that moment on. For those not yet in the know; the CSM module provides services for those legacy OSses and such that (st...

Re: Community Changelog: 0.4.6 (Work-in-progress)

You're not the only one to notice. There's this UEFI for MIPS as well, RISC-V has achieved official processor bindings support status for RV32i, RV64i and RV128i modes in UEFI 2.7, and both Andrei Warkentin and Benjamin Herrenschmidt have done some nice groundwork on porting TianoCore to OpenPOWER ....

Re: ReactOS and QubesOS

there is no more parasitic and wasting thing as hardware virtualization. it's just a black hole sucking everything into nothing, both power watts and developer resources. I saw that miss(is) Rutkowska has also an article called "x86 considered harmful". Right. To get yourselves messing up...

Re: Community Changelog: 0.4.6 (Work-in-progress)

Yeah I know ;) . All joking and kidding aside, I agree. Before the ROS dev team (re)venture into that territory, for that to happen either someone has to come with a devvers board, be it ARM / MIPS / RISCV etc. based, like a raspberry pie and take the IEEE1275 specs and run with it, or the POWER(PC)...

Re: Info, Samba and Wannacry

Blacky, Have you already issued Jira reports for these potential bugs, so that the devs can react to them? As you know, they don't scour the board that often for new bug reports. On another note, is the ReactOS NTFS implementation vulnerable to this particular bug? . Seems like a workaround is prett...

Re: ReactOs and steam charts/other OS statistic sites

Hello. I am just curious, when Steam charts collects data on ReactOS users, would it show up as Windows XP or would it show up as ReactOS? Same thing for other statistic sites, like stat counter, market share, OS statistics, etc. Since you referred to "sites" I'll presume you meant web si...

Re: Anyone tested Open Watcom C Compiler?

Has anyone tested the Open Watcom C compiler (DOS and Windows) in ReactOS? I ask because I am in the process of making a concept for a GPLv3 open source game that I want to port to both FreeDOS and ReactOS, and I want it to be able to compile on both OSes. So if you tested it I would like to know a...

Re: Has anyone tested assemblers...

Well, assemblers, as executables, aren't exactly big by any stretch of the word and probably won't tax a lot of Win32 equivalent ROS APIs, so afaics there's isn't a lot of value in employing assemblers as testing tools in ROS. But it still beats nothing, and utilising different assemblers for the RO...

Reddit thread reporting that the Signature Edition laptop runs Linux just fine. And just because one person reports it isn't so doesn't mean everyone should back down. Shills love to drop in and spread mis-information in discussions like that. Clearly much more information is needed either way. BUT...
