Re: 0.4.0 and real hardware (Dell Inspiron 1300)

All I know is that there was some components in the kernel that don't work like how windows does, and lots of drivers depend on those, so most drivers don't work properly. That was in 2013 though. I don't know how much of that is true nowadays. If so, then if those issues were fixed, we would get a ...

Re: Adding sound support to card games included in ReactOS

I wonder how small you could get the audio files with the Opus codec, which is supposed to have better compression than ogg vorbis.

And who says you need 44.1khz? For card sounds, you could get away with 12 or 24khz.

Re: Support for older computers

Isn't Win 2003 requirements what we're aiming for? That pretty much includes everything this side of the millennium, and a fair bit of things from the late 1990s. I have a Pentium 1 (actually an MMX) downclocked to 150mhz, that I can test with to be sure. Is there anyway to get a memory dump over th...

Re: UI Actions Usually Occur on Key Release

This might look like spam at first glance but this is actually quite significant.
I've seen many UIs (all while using some linux distro) that act on press, and not only do the problems in the blog show up, its also quite jarring if you're not used to it.

Re: Future Start Menu

You can hide shortcuts/symlinks that point to executables from the desktop, and instead display them in the beginning of the start menu (separated by a line, like how WinNT4 does it). You can also make the start menu display a special program group that all programs think is the root of the start me...

Re: Blog: On Patches

I noticed the part about GDI and GDI+. It would be nice if some of that code could be improved beyond Microsoft in terms of performance. I read that GDI+ in Windows is not hardware accelerated and does more text stuff and handles larger resolutions, and thus is 1/6 the speed of GDI in a number of c...
