Re: Booting on laptops with only USB CD-ROM connections

Wow, Julcar, those were some fantastic software gymnastics you performed to get ReactOS into your laptop via a USB port and USB stick. Congratulations!

Re: Language C

...what OS parts can be written using programming languages like Java or VB.net or c#(...?) Programs that accompany the OS could be written in interpreted languages such as the ones you mentioned, MadWolf. Programs that most people think of as part of a modern, full-featured OS aren't really part o...

Re: Booting on laptops with only USB CD-ROM connections

Look for "How to install ReactOS from RAM disk" in the ReactOS Tutorials Forum. This may be a workaround for experimenters who have only Internet and USB connections on their test PC. Disclaimer: At this time ReactOS is alpha level software . It is not yet feature complete . Unexpected data loss may...

Do BTRFS-tools come with ROS's BTRFS filesystem?

In the Tutuorials Forum topic "ROS 0.4.10 running on a ThinkPad T430 with Btrfs and Ethernet working [video]", GreyGeek asked this question: Do the BTRFS tools get installed when you choose BTRFS as the (file system)? A bit of discussion about Btrfs-tools requiring Linux followed. Then: Btrfs-tools ...

Re: ERROR ReactOS-0.4.11 + VirtualBox 6.0.4 r 128413

Another ReactOS experimenter, LordBlick, reported in the topic BSOD when installing Guest Additions that the VirtualBox people (thanks, bird!) now have a test build available that may overcome this problem. LordBlick thoughtfully supplied a download link to that test build. Otherwise one may wait fo...

Microsoft's Raymond Chen discusses the question "Why not just block the apps that rely on undocumented behavior?" in his blog The Old New Thing. The comments that follow the article are also informative.

Re: Question about installing browsers

Brave Help Center > Desktop Browser > Installing Brave > How do I download and install Brave? If the About ReactOS page in the ReactOS Wiki identified which version of Microsoft Windows is the current ReactOS implementation target (NT 5.2), then spencerp could have answered his own question. (I'd ma...

Re: ReactOS full UTF-8 support?

When UTF-8 was first promoted in 1993, Microsoft Windows was already almost a decade old. Microsoft Windows XP was Windows XP was released in 2001, two years before UTF-8 was finalized as an international data processing standard. The ReactOS development team aims to support what ReactOS's implement...

I have a HP DV6000 model.
Providing a web link to the manufacturer's specification page would be helpful. Here's a start: HP Retired Products.
Any news on the USB boot?

Re: ANY Way to Script an HTTPS Request from a Default ReactOS Install?

Normally... I'd just use wget , but obviously that's not part of the default ReactOS install. When mentioning programs "not part of the default ReactOS install" one should reveal how others can obtain the program. A web link is preferred. Here is an example link to wget.exe . "Let us stand on each ...

Re: Trying to get companies to support ReactOS

Changing ReactOS's implementation target to NT6 or NT10 at this time is like starting construction on one or two new upper floors before the building's ground floor foundation is ready. Changing the target was discussed before and after April 14, 2014. The consensus of the developers (devs) was to b...

Any estimation of what is still missing in ReactOS NT 5.2 kernel (a list or something)?
"Search before you ask" remains good practice in a technical forum such as this.
I suggest searching the ReactOS Wiki using the word "missing". A link to the wiki is provided on the ReactOS.org home page.
