Re: Ros&Raspberry Pi

Okay, like everything else, when I get to it, I'll hack a RosBE_ARM, don't hold your breath.... RosBE-ARM is rely on CeGCC, which stopped at GCC 4.4.0 and there is no clue that MinGW-ARM will be released any time soon or later. Your best choice for now is to use VS 2012(we have some problems with 2...

And since then, no news. Priorities are in fixing the Memory Manager (amongst others). And? Any progress made since then? Please check this out: https://code.google.com/p/reactos/ Those are different people than ReactOS Portable Systems Group. The guy in those threads (http://www.reactos.org/piperm...

Re: Metapad unicode support. Needs testing.

Please post ReactOS related stuff here. It's ReactOS related. He is about to change the codebase of Metapad to learn and maybe replace ReactOS Notepad with his Metapad Fork. You can read about it here Seems like it is very likely that MetaPad will become part of the ReactOS. Although IMHO, ReactOS ...

Why don't just call it NTLDR instead of FREELDR

Although you can give a boot loader whatever name you want since 99.9% of programs won't need to know this file, I think a Windows-like system should look like Windows.

Re: tmpfs support

One problem. The things inside TMP are sometimes supposed to survive reboots. If you guarantee that it'll be wiped after a reboot, you've just broken app compatibility for god knows how many things. That's app fault. I agree that if it breaks compatibility (i.e., makes it work different than in Win...

Is there a multithreading version of ninja?

We have used "ninja" instead of "make" as the default build tool for a while. But one point is that ninja is much slower than makex in my i7 machine. Will there be a ninjax by any chance?

Re: Why Not Use "Cl.exe Link.exe" as the primary compiler?

1. GCC has been ported to multi platform. But VC is Windows only. Of course you can use Wine, but that isn't supported officially, which means Microsoft can detect it and refuse to run if they want. 2. GCC is open source and libre. As an open source project under GPL, there is no reason not to suppo...

Re: Word-of-mouth advertisement

Because we are in alpha stage, I don't think it is a good idea to tell normal user to try ReactOS. People will get frustrated when they hope they can use it like the Windows and find out it is not true. It will be really nice to tell your friends about ReactOS when we have the first stable version. ...
