Snappy Driver Installer - Could this tool be useful for ReactOS?

From https://sdi-tool.org/ : Install missing drivers and update old drivers If you've lost your driver discs, you're unable to find drivers on the manufacturer's web site or Windows Update can't configure your hardware, use this tool to quickly find and install all missing drivers. If you're a PC te...

Re: ReactOS on Toshiba A135-S4527

I just managed to get another laptop of this exact model from someone I know since 12/6. Only yesterday have I decided to convert my unit for testing ReactOS due to its hardware: Its current CPU is an Intel® Pentium® Processor T2080 that is 32-bit only and thus lacks support for 64-bit operating sys...

exFAT filesystem and specifications to be open-sourced by Microsoft

https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/opensource/2019/08/28/exfat-linux-kernel/ The blog post describing the changes. In summary, Microsoft will release patents related to exFAT to the Open Invention Network (OIN), and eventually add exFAT support to the Linux kernel itself. The latter means that future...

Re: Some spare motherboards for testing

Yay! I'm finally getting some of my motherboards sold. In the meantime, the machines I'm likely to test ReactOS on use newer hardware (ranging from 2008 to 2010; this hardware has been designed for Windows Vista to Windows 7), which means that: SATA ports are more prevalent than IDE ports. PCI Expre...

Re: Some spare motherboards for testing

After some deeper thinking, I'm motivated much more by wanting to get rid of some clutter in my house, so I may continue selling this hardware, most likely on eBay, but it will no longer be geared specifically for be testing ReactOS on.

Some spare motherboards for testing

I have several motherboards that are at my home, but currently are not being used, nor are they likely to be used be me again in the future, as I have newer hardware. I thought about trying to test ReactOS on these boards, but my setups will become very messy every time I want to do so. All but one ...

Re: Switch to PlayOnLinux or Q4Wine?

Both PlayOnLinux and Q4Wine are frontends for Wine that help simplify usage of it, such as making multiple prefixes or giving the user a list of programs to install. Since individual Wine components are used in ReactOS, either of those two frontends will not work here.

Re: Poll: New Tango Volume Icon

Hey! I bet that my efforts on porting some of those GNOME icons are acutually being put to use! :D If those icons really did come from my pack I uploaded about a year ago, [forum post here], then maybe I might like some credit...(at least my real name in the credits).

Re: My ReactOS Wishlist

To add one more item onto this wishlist: the X PixMap (.xpm) format is used primarily by the X window system as distributed with most Unix-like OSes. It could potentially be simple enough to implement to view in the default image viewer, if desired.

Re: Testing unlimited

If I chose to ship, I could reduce the clutter I have if I were to keep holding onto those computer parts at my house. But then that would've made me think about how much clutter the other person would accumulate. Now I could do the testing at my home, but I might like to know if I should put...

Re: Testing unlimited

Ooh! Good for you that you'll have lots of hardware to test out. I have some unused hardware lying around at my home, too, and I would like to have you test some of it. How can I send or ship the hardware to you for this to happen (may be done either one-way for round-trip, depending on if I think I...

Re: Advanced File Progress Dialog

Ah, so we'll have to wait until IFileOperation and IOperationsProgressDialog are implemented before I see one of those features appear? I'm guessing that those two classes are also more flexible and extensible as well?

Re: which path/direction is the reactos is really going to?

That is good news i spent a lot of time and effort binging back the NTOS gui to windows 8 with a nifty program called classictheme.exe and another one called classic shell but that pesky dwm is hard to get rid of. I had tried to do something similar before (around Spring 2014), but on Windows 8.1. ...

In the current Reactos's explorer not display papers flying animation when the files are copied, i attach a screenshot, greetings. http://i58.tinypic.com/16lg4nb.jpg The above posting snapped up something for me to suggest: The file progress dialog could be expanded to include more advanced feature...

Re: XP-like icons

I think there already exists an XP-like icon theme, but made for a different project: the CrystalSVG icon theme from the KDE3 software compilation. Could we try using some, if not all, of the icons from that particular icon theme, as it looks like an attempt at the time it was created to try to mim...
