At the bottom of this page it says:
ReactOS is a trademark of ReactOS Foundation in the United States and other countries.
yet there is no record of a ReactOS trademark registration at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, so I was wondering what's going on.

ReactOS trademark

A search of trademarks registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office does not turn up a registration for ReactOS.

Any ideas why? Is ReactOS registered in the U.S.?

The project has taken a big hit. ReactOS will not recover soon enough to be a product of any kind. If this takes years to redo from scrach, I would say Redmond won. Even if it would take a year the project is over. I'm inclined to agree. I think the four "tainted" developers owe the React...

Last thing would be to update all your software via internet with a single click. This can be done overnight or whenever you have time to do so. And we're going to change the name to ReactHat? Good luck pulling this off, with the myriad installation schemes and Windows application installers out th...

Best solution. The ReactOS team develops all of these components independantly, to ensure they are as streamlined as possible. There is a practical reason you don't want to go that route: ReactOS developers are a finite resource. If you allocate them to the creation of a web browser, you're taking ...

I ask this question purely from a naive stance: If all of these Bash tools are so wonderful, has someone not already written DOS- or Windows-compatible versions of them?

elektrik is right. It doesn't matter what an isolated user can do, is capable of doing or has done on his system. What IS important is what the user base expects. In the case of ROS we're talking about Mom and Pop Windows users who expect a Windows-like OS.

Short answers: B, F, D, Quicken, B, A #1 - B Running OpenOffice.org on ReactOS would be a nice demonstration of ROS' capabilites and wouldn't require networking or multimedia support. OTOH, "playing" an mp3 on Windows Media Player without being able to hear the music is a bit silly, IMO. #...

All this talk about bandwidth and a "distributed package system" misses a fundamental point that's been hammered away at a number of times in this thread. ReactOS is Windows-compatible. It is not a proprietary OS. You want Winamp? Go here: http://www.winamp.com/player/free.php and the very...

chris319: Why don't you simple make a third partition with the new FS? Then what? The next logical step would be to copy all data and applications to the Reiser partition without losing a single byte; this means ROS or some utility would have to be able to read a FAT partition. You then have to dea...
