The ISO method seems to work well. Now I have a web browser. It is not so difficult, even convenient way to get packages after reinstall of OS.

Small update.

Opera 9 is not available on ftp server. Tried opera 12.00, and it hangs during install.

Mozilla ftp server does not stock old versions either. Tried 13.0.1. BSOD during install.

Well, on the bright side, I learned how to update application compatibility database.

Aha. I tried Firefox 11 and Firefox 3.6, and they don't download.
But now I tried Firefox 3.0 and Firefox 2.0, and both of them download fine.

This is with the virtual box pre-install, not with ISO.
