Re: [IDEA] Integrate MPlayerGUI into ReactOS MP

Funny, guyz, i've never heard before that a generic GUI can infringe laws... You have to learn copyright laws a bit more ! Well, uhmm, MPlayerGUI is not a generic GUI. It is a GUI for MPlayer. Now, if you are suggesting that ReactOS Media Player be recreated with this GUI design in mind, that's fin...

Re: [IDEA] Integrate MPlayerGUI into ReactOS MP

They can't. MPlayer is in a legal gray area, so it would be difficult to include it. Also, I think the purpose of ReactOS Media Player is to use the built-in media frameworks, like Windows Media Player does on Microsoft Windows.

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

Friends, Let's review some basics. MIDI is an expandable and robust protocol that an incredible number of musicians use everyday. MIDI has been around for over 27 years. As a musician and composer myself I cannot ever see a day when I and others like me won't be using MIDI. You guys might like to a...

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

I am read-only with delphi - where's the code? I have voluntarily stopped myself from core OS development, but I think I could do a port to C++ without any issues. Much more likely to be included in default ROS that way, although Downloader would probably allow a Lazarus (or Delphi for that matter)...

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

I found an open source MIDI loopback driver for Windows. However, the code is quite old (requires Delphi 1.0 to compile, which I don't have). I'm hoping somebody here has Delphi 1.0 and knows Delphi and Lazarus, otherwise, I'm going to be flying blindly and attempting to convert the code to work on ...

Re: Additional Feature

Here's a topic for suggestions for additional features Windows doesn't have but really should, so might be useful to be implemented in ReactOS. I'm not saying any of these will ever be implemented, but it would be nice if they were. Although a lot of these probably can't be implemented until ReactO...

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

FluidSynth 1.1.0 released! While FluidSynth 1.1.0 does bring in many improvements , it is nearly impossible to include in ReactOS, because it now has a hard dependency on glib. GLIB depends on a quite a few other libraries, so meh. However, FluidSynth 1.0.9 has no such requirement. In any case, I ma...

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

Did you actually listen to the example MIDI given, or do you not have a way to listen to MIDIs using soundfonts? Since this is a nearly 8-bit soundfont, the sound for a piano doesn't really sound like a piano. The soundfont itself calls it "FM Bells 1" for good reason, it has a "bell" like sound to...

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

Alright, I just did a quick edit of the VintageDreamsWaves-v2 soundfont and it'll now play sound for steel drums! :D (it uses the same sound as the sound for piano in bank 000) I'll be adding it to the wiki. Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?wqztyoh1mzd Here's an example MIDI with steel drums tha...

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

I just hope this doesn't make people start trying to implement TiMidity++ in ReactOS instead of FluidSynth... (in case you haven't noticed already, I'm strongly against using TiMidity++, not to mention an absolute sucker for FluidSynth's future-proof-ness) I guess that I just want this to be done t...

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

I tried installing an english twsynth release from a japanese sourceforge site. Link: http://sourceforge.jp/projects/twsynth/releases/ Result: it has some problems installing, but playing midi files using the "Windows audio driver" works. Virtual machine was VBox with the typical audio driver trick...

Re: Re:

Perhaps there should be some wiki page to collect suggestions (with links to discussions). Otherwise, they will be buried here on the forum. There's a list of ideas in the Wiki. It would probably be better for suggestions to be made here and discussed first, then moved to the Wiki if they are feasi...

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

If you want a really minimal soundfont that is can be guaranteed inclusion, FluidSynth's source package includes a ~308KB SoundFont in the sf2/ folder. See how well that one works, and maybe that one could be used if TimGM6mb.sf2 can't be included by default. Oh, I know what that one is. It DOES pl...

Re: Built-in soundfont support for MIDI?

We can't use one "found somewhere" You could, just so that you can implement MIDI support around it. The font can then be discarded, and a better one sought. Edit: works flawless in Windows XP, works with custom soundfonts, but stores it's config not in the registry, but .cfg file.
what is the homepage for timidity driver
Hint: look in the wiki.
