Re: General Testing for 0.4.2
Well, I can tell you that it doesn't like VMWare Workstation very much. As with 0.4.1, the first boot after installation is a BSOD. (No BSOD in VirtualBox 5.1.2) Unlike 0.4.1, anything I download in the Application Manager stops at 98%. The first time this happened, I gave up and tried to close the ...

Re: we need reactos-update
I don't know if that's urgent during alpha stage. People aren't supposed to be using the OS full time yet. I would rather the devs focus on other things to get the OS ready for the day when people will use ReactOS continuously and have a need to update the OS without reinstalling it. As always, thou...

Re: How stable is ReactOS on Real Hardware?
It probably doesn't have an optical drive, or he doesn't have CD-RWs to burn frequent updates to.
But yeah, I'd be surprised if you could go six months without having to reinstall the OS. It would be pretty awesome if you could, though!

Re: EPIC WIN!
To me, "worked" means the program installed, started, displayed and responded to its user interface, ran its essential functions correctly, and did not damage data or the ReactOS installation. I suppose that many newcomers to ReactOS will have a similar expectation when they see a claim that a prog...

DOSBox reports 5.00 by default, but you can change it to whatever you want with "VER SET major_version [minor_version]".

Re: Can I give away copies of ReactOS?
I'm not sure why this has become a legal discussion. Remember shareware, where developers depended on people to distribute as many copies of their software as possible? ROS is like that. We want as many people as possible to try out ReactOS, so if you want to a burn a few CD-Rs with a copy of ReactO...

Re: Quick Question
I think the scenario you're describing is most likely in a project where a single person is responsible for most of the code commits. A project this size won't just die because one or two people abandon it. With the possible exception of the entire dev team dying on the same day, there's almost no c...

Re: ReactOS on ARM
The Raspberry Pi 2 will support Windows 10. That's as good as it's likely to get for the foreseeable future. Alternatively, you might be able to run ROS or older versions of Windows in an emulator. The RPi2's increased specs and ARMv7 compatibility should open up a lot of exciting new possibilities.

Re: ROS compatiblity
ROS is at version 0.3.17 and probably 5 to 10 years away from being fully compatible with XP and 2003. Let's let them achieve NT5 compatibility before asking for anything from NT6.

Re: hows the wine ?
@oldman are u saying that were being monitored by microsoft? ReactOS is open source. Every line of code from every commit can be monitored by everyone. If anyone committed copyrighted code and anyone in the world noticed, it would be lawsuit time. Microsoft doesn't even have to be monitoring, they ...

Re: ROSBE and RPi Model B
Forgive me for the possible thread hijack, but I just wanted to point out that the Raspberry Pi 2 features an ARMv7 CPU. Most questions on this forum about running ROS, or anything else, on a Raspberry Pi could be answered with "no, the Raspberry Pi's CPU is ARMv6". That may still be the answer to y...

Re: ReactOS Edu distribution
Every school will have different needs. I'm not sure that it's possible to predict what software would be useful to schools, other than universally important software like office suites and browsers, and possibly programming languages. (Don't start about VB6.) It sounds like the issue is more that s...

Re: Improve Visual Basic 6.0 support in ReactOS
That being the case, I generally prefer that developers focus on the big picture -- the fixes that will give ReactOS the broadest compatibility -- rather than focus on specific applications whose fixes might not benefit any other software. VB6 support would be great, but would it be reason enough to...
