Re: Active Desktop

I'm going to turn gabrielilardi's thought into a question - what functionality of Active Desktop is interesting/useful? From help desk experience, it crashes a lot and it is recommended to disable it, so I have never seen any purpose in it. Besides, someone implementing it would probably want to fo...

Active Desktop

I hate to be a nag, but.. I was wondering if anyone is working on an Active Desktop feature for ReactOS (?) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Desktop for me, and many other people, Active Desktop is an important feature in windows and one of endless reasons for not going beyond XP thanks in advance

USB Mouse

I installed React 0.3.10 today and it booted up fine, however the USB optical mouse is totally useless.

are USB or optical mice not supported yet in 0.3.10?

will it work to plug in a generic PS2 mouse?
I would need to buy one in that case, so I would like to know before I do so.

thanks in advance

2. might be wrong, but i think most or all of these are just shells that at most add features to and skin an existing gui - you need a gui to be able to skin it- just like real skin can't eat or walk or look at stuff- it's skin. exactly and in this case... Aston Alt-Desk is an alternative GUI Aston...

Supported Languages

i was just wondering which languages other than English will be supported in the next major release of ReactOS :?: it would be nice to have a Swedish version (nudge-nudge) or at least a German version, since both of these are easier for me to work in than English it's not really a problem mind you, ...

btw... will Active Desktop be a feature in ReactOS? i use this all the time for running java clocks, etc.. the one GUI feature i would most like to see implimented into React as a native part of the OS.. is the ability to covert any image into an ikon beyond that, if it were also possible to choose ...

of course, i don't mean MS Windows itself - but the GUI style of Windows React is a great project - i desperately hope it succeeds in displacing Windows on a global scale, and that Microsoft doesn't plan some Machiavelian legal tactic to stop it - as they're attempting to do through SCO with all UNI...

this is exactly why i posted this topic in the General Discussion forum i posted it for those who ARE interested in alternative GUIs not for those who are happy with windows as it is it's not just a discussion about shells or themes but desktop environments as a whole (the location, orientation and ...

But who cares about shell replacement ? I Do as do all artists, and those interested in art and aesthetics i don't give...

i understand what you mean i hope you don't get the impression i was being critical of React's desktop environment (this is not the case) since im extremely graphically orientated a GUI can make the difference between me using an OS and not using it i just downloaded React 0.2.9 but i haven't instal...

1. Wrong forum. Go Design section instead sorry, i thought General Discussion seemed the right forum for a plugin shell topic 2. Closed source. so what, it's only the themes, graphix and UI that matter in this case the registration is cheap, and i can download 100s of great themes i don't mind payi...

I don't see the point with this post....
the point is self explanatory

not everyone is satisfied with an XP desktop environment
and now there are loads of alternative desktop environments for Windows and ReactOS

that's the point

How likely is that reactos will do perminit damage I know that there is always a chance that the os can do perminate damage. i think you mean Permanent damage time to run that spellchecker  permanent damage to what.. your nerves? or...
