project laza-ROS
there were not enough people making this project happen. there are fewer now. something needs to be done about that. too many people mired in details- DETAILS! details can kill any project. but not this one, damnit. freedom is won, taken, declared. if the world wants to write a windows compatible os...

i'm still watching
since i'm not a c coder, i don't feel like there is much of anything i can offer ros at this point in time, but i'm still trying as much as i was before- i'm still watching the project, and correcting and/or flaming people (outside this forum) that note to me that ros has "stopped indefinately&...

When I look at him i think why not... Reacty MS Agent Character for usage in future help system... reacty's ok, but i hope he won't pop up everywhere like ####ing clippy and that miserable dog. also, i feel confident saying that if ros org can create an entire NT kernal, gui, and os, they can proba...

the following intended as polite commentary- it may not seem to be, hence the disclaimer. this is a really stupid thread. none of this thread should be taken seriously- what should be taken seriously is the professional policy which reactos conforms to- which covers more than copyright issues and in...

...and a hundred times better than the expired FAT. i'm sure you were well-intentioned in posting this, but i wish people would learn the difference between true obsolescence, planned obsolescence, and Forced obsolescence- FAT technology (at least where it includes FAT32 as a subset...) is an extre...

active desktop and ros gui
to answer the q "why not just use shell _____" instead of bothering to develop gui the two answers i can think of are pretty reasonable: 1. it has to be open source, preferably, gpl, and lastly, preferably written in c or if must be c++ to be part of the ros code project... for now anyway....

Some Serious points my Dosemu does run with MS Dos and PC Dos. So its not a tech option its fact. not what i meant- i mean linux is foss and dosemu is foss and freedos is foss. they work together beatuifully and one won't fall without the others making a stink. maybe you disagree and with good reas...

I was not thinking of adding so many things anyway, at least not many visible (put everything in an advanced menu) thanks, exactly. the problem isn't a douple pane manager- some people really like them - i remember when they were really popular in dos (and i love dos) so i can sympathise. the probl...

Sory to say dosemu does not really do fat at all. It freedos that does fat. details! dosemu relies on freedos in enough ways to be for all intents of purposes. you say it could rely on msdos - i think not, absolutely not, even if on a *purely technical* level it's true. Freedos is older than us and...

I don't like it. It looks old-fashioned. i don't think it will ever stay an issue. though it may stay always one step behind (no complaints there) i think ros will probably always use something similar to the most recent or second most recent version of windows. this will make it easiest on the per...

First I must say that I like the Windows file manager. It feels easy to work with, and very clean... ...And a few more features wouldn't hurt I guess.., but! I just took a look at Directory Opus, and it feels very... cluttered.. don't scare the people switching from windows to ros... even though i ...

maybe but we want to create a windows nt compilant os so we want to use a windows nt like gui too. which one? lots of people like xp and lots of people complained about abandoning 2k look. lots of tweaks came out to make xp look more like 2k. vista won't look like xp anyway. i think more people wil...
