Re: Just re-built my 17 year old computer... how to start ReactOS testing?

Is ReactOS installed on your hard drive (BtrFS partition) toguether with ext4 partition? I had problems booting ReactOS when an ext2/3/4 partition exists in dual boot. HP Compaq nc 6120 (laptop) with, Partition C: (Btrfs) has ReactOS installed into it. Partition D: (Ext4) has some software stored o...

Re: Just re-built my 17 year old computer... how to start ReactOS testing?

I think FAT32 is the better choice since its also supported by Windows. I can even exchange small system files using an old Win 98 1.44 MB floppy boot disk... That's the fastest way to boot into something like an OS on that machine. Using Linux for btrfs would take a longer time since I had to use ...

Re: Cannot boot after installation of 0.4.11

........ What do I do now? 1) Use a Linux livecd, like Puppy Linus and look in C:\reactos\ for a debug log. 1a) If you find a debug log, then consider creating a Jira Issue, but first check in Jira to see if the problem has already been reported. 2) Try one of the latest builds and see how far you ...

Re: Just re-built my 17 year old computer... how to start ReactOS testing?

I opened two JIRA tickets. But the JIRA guys stated that 4.10 was too old. -Will I get serial output when I install the latest 4.12 RC...someting boot CD build? -do I have to or should I prepare the system when I try another ROS version? e.g. formatting or deltreeing the harddrives? The revisions w...

Re: ReactOS Wont Install

I popped in the ReactOS 4.10 disc into the CD drive, went through installation as normal until I got to the partitions part where nothing showed up. Just stuck on "Please Wait..." I would guess that it cannot read the hard drive or it is confused with the other hard drive. It should not be the CD, ...

Re: Dear developers

Post by Reactions » Tue Jun 04, 2019 3:11 pm Dear developers, Thank you for only giving me a temporary ban. I assume that you have been banned from Jira, seeing how you are still able to post into the Forum. Jira is a bug reporting system and not a forum. You create an Issue, then leave it for the ...

Re: Installing Java JDK on ReactOS

I have installed Java 8 JDK, years ago, so if it does not install on the latest build, then a bug is at fault, which sometimes happens.

When you run the installer, it will show a window saying that, this operating system is not supported; just click OK and the install should begin.

Re: Bot proofing Jira and the Forum

Every first post from a newly registered forum account, is now vetted by EmuandCo. He could probably do with another trusted moderator to help him. As for "It is a waste of time, causes clutter, and wastes data.", the people who needlessly quote other peoples posts, are the ones who cause clutter an...

Re: Testing on real hardware 2019

I downloaded and installed getbuild (0.4.13). When quoting the revision that you are testing, it is better to quote the part of the full revision, that I have highlighted in bold (below) and not just 0.4.13 reactos- bootcd-0.4.13-dev-343-ga73c17f-x86-gcc-lin-dbg .7z When creating a Jira Issue, that...

Re: Three questions

1) I do not know. 2) ReactOS, As in https://reactos.org/wiki/images/6/63/StartMenu.png If the top ReactOS is select, then there will be no debug output. 3) ReactOS comes with it's own Realtec RTL8139 lan driver and I think there is another one, but I cannot remember what it is. So if your hardware h...

Re: Testing on real hardware 2019

Could the second computer be a tablet with USB, with a serial<->USB adapter cable? I have no experience with a serial to USB adapter, so all I can say is, give it a try. The tablet will need a terminal app to capture the debug output. A little trick to try to get the mouse pointer to work, is to ke...

Re: Testing on real hardware 2019

Try the latest build at the getbuilds page. hdaudbus is a known problem. If audio can be disabled in the bios, disable it and try again (I have read were this as been suggested). For serious testing you will need a null modem cable (if your test computer has a serial port) and a second computer with...

Re: ROS testing on real hardware

PeterLinuxer » 01 Jun 2019 22:45 The last post to this topic was more than 5 year ago. Never resurrect old topics. You may be set out to the dog house, when EmuandCo comes around. Is there a program running on ReactOS (or Linux) telling me about my hardware? I am willing to describe my hardware in m...
