Re: Release testing for 0.3.16

https://www.reactos.org/wiki/LiveUSB might be worthwile as an easy method for testing this revision on real hardware.
Note the listed issues though (see RUFUS threads in this subforum).

Re: Rufus now supports ReactOS

You can run the RUFUS tool from Windows to transform a ReactOS ISO onto an USB flash drive so you end up with a bootable ReactOS (LiveCD is possible, BootCD is possible. Installed ReactOS isn't possible). The (USB 1.0/1.1/2.0/3.0) flash drive has to be inserted into an USB port that's (in)directly c...

Re: Live CD not loading

You're also trying to use the liveCD. That by itself means you're headed into unverified territory until we start gearing up for a release. Why is that unverified territory? The difference between bootcd and livecd at most is ACPI HAL or not. Besides the LiveCD is easiest to use and see if it compl...

Re: Poll: Would you buy a printed/packaged Ros-cd in support

What about CD case but also delivering the artwork for a DVD as sheets? That allows people to buy their own DVD case and insert the proper artwork themselves. A slightly more expensive release (or additional version) likely isn't that big of a problem either. Combined installer/liveCD is at http://s...

Re: Poll: Would you buy a printed/packaged Ros-cd in support

Hm poll expired already and nowadays I don't visit the forums much anymore. Anyway, count me in for purchasing a disc, if you manage to sort out the requirements as set out by ReactOS representatives. Curious about the formfactors and artwork though. Formfactor: 1) DVD-case (quite strong plastic). P...

Re: Hardware compatibility rant

There are still a few modern motherboards with Floppy and IDE controllers, notably Asrock. Typically also PCI then next to PCIe. These are the latest Z77 and X79 boards.
Maybe someone will introduce a Thunderbolt docking station with legacy connections, who knows.

Re: New CD Cover Design

Probably due to the download page ( http://www.reactos.org/en/download.html ) still referring to version 0.3.1 instead of providing art files for 0.3.14 (or even 0.3.15 or 0.4.0) So far the following graphics seem possible: * cover printable onto optical disk (Lightspeed or whatever it's called) * c...

Re: Drivers for future hardware?

For Windows 8, I'm looking forward to the unified USB3 driver, as well as allowing to boot from USB (used in Windows-to-go which is Windows installed on an usb flash disk). Basicly a portable non-read-only ReactOS Live environment  (and yes this is an enterprise-only feature but workarounds...

Re: Discussion: ReactOS Meeting Minutes

If intended to end up there, then hopefully yes. Next best option is the current system of posting in the forums. Worst case, we'll see nothing, and with no agenda (discussion topics) being available such a meeting's content would remain a mystery.

Re: 0.3.15 launch suggestion

Support for USB Hubs was nearly non-existing. Best bet seems to be to use VirtualBox and enable USB-devices one by one for the virtual machine. On real hardware you can check if USB devices are supported by trying if the LiveCD boots to desktop with working optical drive, mouse and keyboard If the m...

Re: Discussion: ReactOS Meeting Minutes

Meetings are usually end of the month (last Thursday of a month), with the minutes being made available anywhere between 1 day and 2 weeks, depending on the poor soul that volunteers for writing everything down and creating a decent story out of it. Guess folks already noted there's a new newsletter...

Re: [NewIdea]A new way to push ReactOS Development [NewIdea]

Want me to clear it? I don't mind doing so as I didn't continue with filing bugs for a while now.
I've halted ReactOS real hardware testing till USB hubs are supported (as my keyboard has one, and is internally connected to that) and Ramdisk booting is working as well.

Re: 0.3.14 Screenshots

Would the tour guide ( http://www.reactos.org/en/tour.html ) also need to be updated? Seeing updated/recent programs (FireFox for example) running on ReactOS is quite nice. Same for desktop icons without the blue squares around the text label.

Re: Why ROS will not work on NTFS/ZFS/Reiser4/whatever right

Will ROS support now FFSDrv? http://ffsdrv.sourceforge.net/ FFS File System Driver for Windows: enables to read BSD(FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD) FFS/UFS partitions on Windows 2000/XP/2003. You'd have to try it. However the website you're linking to mentions read-only abilities, while ReactOS more aims...

Re: Developing a 3D accelerated shell for ReactOS

ReactOS's DirectX components are mostly not-implemented and thus also non-existing, with the exception of whatever functionality Wine provides (software-rendered instead of hardware acceleration?). If you want to create such a shell it might be worthwile creating/developing your application and see ...
