Re: About the office suite on the roadmap...

Thanks for the info about LibreOffice, Black_Fox . At one point I tried making OpenOffice my only office solution (before 2010) and it failed miserably. Since then I haven't done any serious testing (especially since I saw Java was still a requirement). As a user I try to stay away from anything Jav...

About the office suite on the roadmap...

On the course o my many freware scavanging years, I've come across 2 free office suites which can replace MS Office in most cases and have the big plus on not being written in Java (my old laptop had quite dated harware so resource usage was an important criteria in selecting software). When the tim...

Re: Testing of media players.

Sorry I didn't make it clear... The verion you tried is the last official one... Format support was pretty limited there... The most featured versions were bimbam69 forks for Windows Mobile (it was quite awesome even near the death of the platform). It was so hard to find a good media player for Win...

Re: Testing of media players.

TCPMP is quite old but it has been working for ages (even in the live CD)...Quite small also (about 1.25MB). Not updated anymore though. A couple of "revive" projects emerged for Windows Mobile but also died. The original binaries have vanished but can be dl from here if anyone interested: https://w...

I agree. I use Clover in Win7 (http://ejie.me/) but native should work better.

Universal Extractor: a friend to all app testers

I test a lot of apps in my main OS (always trying new freeware) and I have discovered most apps work perfectly without going through the actual setup process. I have been using a tool called Universal Extrator for years to "extract" the app files from the setups without running them and I recon it m...

Explorer enhancements

Seeing how the new explorer is on the roadmap for the next big release (btw what has happened to 0.3.15?), I've been testing some of the old tiny enhancements I used in XP... Some are working and some are not which may be due to some differences in the behaviour of the explorer or possible bugs. I a...

TCPMP for ROS

Been lurking for a very long time and occasionally testing edited versions of daily builds of the live CD (in which I bundle a couple of portable apps) using MobaLiveCD (not the best way but it's very quick). TCPMP was my favorite media player under Windows Mobile. It was opensource (except for the ...

Re: Reactos Internet Explorer (RIE)

Glad someone also tried OffByOne in ROS :) For me OffByOne was cool due to it's minute size and low footprint... However it's development has stopped and it supports only html 3. Dillo is similar only it's development is still active and the devs are aiming for html 4 support. There's a Win32 port o...

Re: Read this if you've found software useful to ReactOS

As a Notepad alternative maybe but not as a Worpad replacement... It lacks .rtf support. [offtopic]I like tiny self contained apps and the idea of a >5MB office suite is very appealing to me. Been looking for a nice OSS Wordpad alternative for ages but haven't found any... So far I found some freewa...

Re: Revision 53952

Ok the issues I was having with the explorer under the live cd seem to have been fixed in revision 54216 :)

I can't say for sure that all the icons are there since ReactOS is showing in 16 colors... I reported this 16 color issue (most likely wrong but though... its bug 6578)

Re: Revision 53952

I successively divided the release numbers in half between your test and August to decrease the number of tests needed in determining the culprit. The issue seems to have been introduced in revision 53653 if I got it right (there is a gap between this and 53649)... Hope you can confirm it. This one ...

Re: Revision 53952

I've been getting the same explorer issues with livecd builds from over a week or more... Though I thought it was related with me running it in MobaLiveCD (a small self contained qemu vm app... I like for it's size portability and ease of use even though it lacks configuration). I found that togglin...

Re: PVS-Studio: analyzing ReactOS's code

Been following this project for some years now (even though I don't write much...) but it has become clear to me that ROS developers avoid the forum... Don't know if any actually read this thread... They do however use IRC a lot. About the letter did you send it to Aleksey Bragin (from what I unders...
