sorry to be so pedantic but in this case "freies" is more than just "frei verfügbares" it's about freedom as in "Free Software" as defined in th GPL. I think think the sentence can remain as it is. sorry...

well, it seems like your best option is to create it yourself.

It takes some time to do it but it's not all that hard.

"WPM - A Windows Package Manager"

There is someone working on a Debian-like packaging mechanism for MS Windows. Isn't this exactly what the ReactOS software download tool is supposed to accomplish?

Here's a link to more information

I'm sorry, but "frei" and "kostenlos" does not mean the same and it is obvious that ReactOS (or any software under the GNU licence) is primarily "freie Software" (although it is "kostenlos" as well). There is no word in the GNU software license that prohibits ...

The ReactOS Test Environment works great form me. Thanks! only one (very minor!) thing: Non-English Windows Versions don't use "Program Files" as their default location to store programs which makes it necessary to change the path manually. Thanks! http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/2842/b...

I hope I don't kidnap this thread (if you think so, just ignore my post), but I have a question about the ReactOS shell. As far as I know it is currently being rewritten. Are there any cool new things we can look forward to? I've heard about themes. Are there any other notable features?

thanks

Hi there I've uploaded an early version of my image viewer. Tried it on the 0.3 release of ReactOS and it didn't work. :( Nevertheless, here's the link if you want to try it: http://www.romanhoegg.ch/iv_main.htm It doesn't do much yet, but it's already quite handy if you don't have any other picture...

'cause they already are Windows libraries? :-)

BTW: I'll post a first version of the viewer soon.

The devs require that programs and utilities be win32 applications. They'll accept limited C++ programs, but not if it depends on some library not part of the default NT system. Just something to keep in mind. That's what I assume as well. However, since I primarily want do make this picture viewer...

Hi! thanks for trying to help. I asked for GDI because I didn't really know, what I was looking for and I had some vague idea what GDI+ is supposed to do. However, in the meantime I have experimented with the FreeImage library (GPLed) a little and had some first successes. I'm now able to display to...

image viewer

Hi all I've got a real noob question. Since I'm still using Windows 2000 and therefore don't have an "image viewer" (like XP has) I plan to write one myself. I guess this would be a useful programm for ReactOS, too. (I'm not implying that I expect anything I come up with to necessarily bec...

I installed it and I'm compiling the sources right now. This really is quite handy.

Idea for an additional feature: It would be cool to know how long it took to compile.

BTW: I think the green looks cool.

I am using Dev-Cpp (because of the great package manager) with - gcc-core 3.4.5-20060117-1 - gcc-g++ 3.4.5-20060117-1 - binutils 2.16.91-20060119-1 - MinGW runtime 3.9 - GNU make 3.80.0-3 - NASM 0.98.39 That works fine. Interesting. Is there a guide on how to set up Dev-C++ to compile the ReactOS s...
