Re: How does Microsoft's patent on the taskbar affect ReactO

My worry is more that it specifically mentions a "Start" menu. Mac OS doesn't have a comparable start menu (just the dock and finder), and Linux usually has a series of menus. I don't know of any Linux distros before 95 that had an actual start-like button (like KDE does, IIRC). You must look at th...

Re: XHCI USB Bus

But would this not be part of the USB stack? Do you need a section of the stack for each of the different host types?

XHCI USB Bus

BSD now has a XHCI driver for USB 3. I know it is maybe not be perfect for use in ReactOS, however it is interesting that it contains support for older hosts. Would this mean that ReactOS should be focusing on developing an XHCI host, which would be a more complete solution than developing separate ...

Re: Could Microsoft make/save a buck($$$) out of Reactos?

So there it is the one million dollar question. a. sell packs of DLL's and Exe's that are currently free downloads if you have a legal Windows only b. give Reactos support to integrate it on lots of devices, later sell windows to those platforms c. sell support for Reactos These ideas would not cre...

Re: [idea] Integrated a/v transcoding tool

This is something most users don't use, can't agree on which one is best to use and can easily be downloaded and installed by the user. I don't see any reason it should be a core part of the system. No other programs rely on it or it's features.

Re: Audio Sequencers in ReactOS 0.3.11

To moderators: Maybe this thread fits better at Feedback Board ("mea culpa") Right, done. ;) Maybe you could make a test area in the forums? That way people could make a thread for applications/drivers and track them, pics etc... I know there is bugzilla etc, but an area to discus might gain more i...

I was just think about some new icons for ROS. Here they are. The 2nd zip contains others icons that may help with a v-sita (OK, vista) theme. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=065d7177649af6460f83d91f6dff7c38e04e75f6e8ebb871 People like you should be banned. Re: Windows 'MinWin' and Windows 8

No, you dont profit that much by cpu targetting... "5-15% speedup without even having to touch code" counts for me as tremendous  Allow me to reword: You don't profit much for favoring one CPU over another, and not give support (IE: Drivers) for unfavorable CPUs. The speed difference in th...

Re: Windows 'MinWin' and Windows 8

To answer the OP, ReactOS will do better than Windows 7. Seven cannot run on oldest of Pentiums with 32MB RAM, while guys from ReactOS managed to do this. This is not always a good thing. It can come at performance and feature costs. I really don't think this is an issue yet ;) Maybe by 0.4.x or 0....

Re: Firefox 3 messed up and 0.5 by Christmas?

Afaik, Firefox uses XUL regardless of what OS is being used. They've added integration for Windows, Mac OS X and GTK+ to XUL. Firefox is not integrated when running in KDE, the Linux version will always use the theming that GTK+ provides. Same thing with *BSD. XUL on windows calls underlying win32....
