Re: A Reactos Distro - Working software collection

The other reason, that of bundling applications, is ultimately one of personal preference. Why should this project show preference to one application over another when we can leave the user to choose for themselves? Congrats to all developers for 0.3.6 (too fast...). Anyway, the present state of Re...

Re: A Reactos Distro - Working software collection

I agree to spoonman for "ROS Supported Software Compilation". Ok, if others agree to this, what should be next step ? Create wiki page, collect most favoured applications, 0.3.5 as base, getting atleast 5(?) verified entries for best working(?) version. , voting, submission rules etc etc. ...

Re: A Reactos Distro - Working software collection

We have got this page http://www.reactos.org/wiki/index.php/PackageManager_Tree but the problem here is, we do not know which version of the software works best in which release. My suggestion (till anyone or myself prepares a dedicated website for that purpose) is to table the content as here : Sof...

Re: A Reactos Distro

I agree that we won't need a distro when we reach a stable state, maybe 3-4 years from now. But the situation right now is different. I am installing Reactos 0.3.5 on real hardware. Installing Firefox 3.0 -failed (for example only). Next firefox 2.0.0.14. working but menu unreadable. Now from old CD...

A Reactos Distro - Working software collection

Hi all, I have been long using (trying) reactos since 0.2.7. And i am regularly reading almost all forum post in General Discussion section. I know the developer's attitude toward this 'Distro' matter and even know the reason why. Let's keep them away from the matter and restart thinking about makin...

My heartly congratulations on reaching this stage. We are eagerly waiting for final version. But we have yet to resolve some bugs. I would highly suggest to link download page of this RC1 version on frontpage just below 0.2.9 stable version. There are many visitors who don't surf through CIA or foru...

SOC on frontpage

I just saw www.kde.org . They have placed banner inviting students for SOC right on homepage. The ad is placed on left upper corner which seems catchy. I think we should replace screenshots with such ad inviting students to join us though temporarily. We already have good ideas in wiki but marketing...

0.2.10

Now much development has done after 0.2.9 and but still we are somewhat behind 0.3 goals, we should better go for intermediate version of 0.2.10. The reason are : 1) Eveyone has higher expectations from 0.3, but as discussed earlier there are many task to be completed. Our developer are trying hard ...

I have so far installed and upgraded Reactos 0.2.8, 0.2.9, and SVN 20946 and had no major problems. Yes USB mouse did not work. I used Fat32 partition of Windows XP already being used. (no need for new partition....during installation said, "could not check current file system"..I skipped ...

Yes, I agree for Dial up users. It's been 6 hour now and i have downloaded just 40 %. 7 zip will certainly make difference. I never had any problem with 7zip.
