Re: Is Andrew Hill (ash77) still with the ReactOS project?

funny you have mentioned this. He has been absent for a while from the project. He recently showed in IRC and has been talking to people(I have yet to. This may because of a timezone thing). I do not know what his plans are regarding ReactOS though. Regardless someone with his knowledge just being a...

Re: The Future of Wine and Windows XP mode

I refuse to believe Reactos 1.X(in a VirtualMachine with Guesst additions) will be as bad as Wine+Linux or even worst... :x It is good that your a fan of reactos. Though you have no reasoning. Wine has better compatibility with apps than reactos at the moment. They will continue to improve on compa...

Re: Colinux and Reactos

I have tested stand alone colinux distros like Portable Ubuntu and AndLinux but those are big linux distros using KDE and Gnome, and I think that´s were the issues may be... You need all that stuff. Because otherwise it's just a linux kernel which will do nothing. I am interested on what they...

Re: is this thing stable?

That is true hopefully many GSOC students will remain working on ReactOS. Though what they work on is up to them. I'm not up to speed on what patents exist for NTFS. If there is an issue we could make a "fake" NTFS. One that has all the features of NTFS, though a different implementation. ...

Re: The Future of Wine and Windows XP mode

nicamarvin2005 you don't seem to understand what has been seen. When we say that ReactOS in a vm is not efficient with resources. You simply said get more resources. Which for one is not a good solution and doesn't counter the point that ReactOS in a vm is equivalent application compatibility in win...

Re: is this thing stable?

There is no GSoC project for NTFS. But it doesn't mean they can't try it. While the list of projects is a starting point, those who have skills in more valuable areas are free to use them there. It is true that before selection someone could have proposed to do NTFS as a gsoc project. Though the pr...

Re: The Future of Wine and Windows XP mode

As for ROS... Umm Arwiniss is fused with trunk and will in all likely hood provide near equal compatibility with wine in most cases as both Ros and wine share the same subsystem as well as DLLs. I agree. using reactOS in a vm at any time will probably not be too much better than wine Except I think...

Re: The Linux Unified Kernel

If ReactOS already surpasses what Linux was at version 1 maybe it wouldn't be so bad to call it stable now instead of Alpha, at least as far as the kernel goes. This might help get people interested in the project for mostly psychological reasons. Also, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to separat...

Re: Any experienced with windows themes?

I dont know if it was that one, it was a while ago: http://www.stardock.com/products/skinstudio/downloads.asp Theres a StyleBuilder out there, too... I downloaded and it asks me to install windows blinds. So I don't think it is for msstyle files. Hello there. Please, greenie, if you have time, coul...

Re: Any experienced with windows themes?

I had not heard there there were theme editors for windows. I thought you had to just use a resource hacker or something similar.

Could you give me a link? As I quickly googled and couldn't see anything.

Any experienced with windows themes?

I have been working on explorer_new, and one of the things i have been doing is getting theming working. Progress has gone well and here is an image. http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/6240/traythemed.png The issue is there are some things I have not been able to work out from documentation or obser...

Re: The Linux Unified Kernel

If all luk does is run faster than standard wine installed on a linux distro. good on them. If it does more that is also great as well. Maybe one day our projects may help each other or one helps the other. Who cares. We are a separate projects with separate goals(similar though not the same). Why d...

Re: Latest Arwinss ISO's

Yah I do not think many people do know what ARWINSS is and that it is only a short term project, also with testing benefits to locate bugs in ros. In long term reactos will provide better support. Maybe the name should reflect the short term nature to stop people getting confused. Like tempOS or som...
