Re: ReactOS 0.3.11 progress...
Let's look at what has happened since the ReactOS project came into existence. Windows XP, 2003, 2008, Vista, and 7 have come out. That are at least 5 new versions of NT since ReactOS targeted Windows NT 4. Although I disagree with a lot of what you wrote, I'll leave it as is as this conversation h...

Re: ReactOS 0.3.11 progress...
I have been watching a lot of activity on the CIA server (below), and lots of little nibbling fixes are going in. Maybe no one has figured out the showstoppers yet, but the activity shows the next release will be piles better than current. It is like a Thanksgiving turkey - lots of care and attenti...

Re: ReactOS 0.3.11 progress...
This show stopper for 0.3.11, how serious a bug is this? If this bug doesn't get fixed, how will that affect ReactOS from a practicality standpoint? It's no secret that ReactOS is taking a long time to stabilize and it's no secret that most people want to be able to use it every day which means tha...

Re: AMD Phenom X4 Supported? ReactOS 0.3.9 error/can't use it
As well, what size partition are you using? If it's showing you as having 3GB of RAM you'll need 3GB just for the pagefile + extra for ReactOS files.

Re: Different distros of ReactOS?
.... To all people who are against ReactOS-distributions: Strincly speaking, is every ReactOS version in heavy use, a distribution. If you install a program in ReactOS, then it's a "distribution". If you change the wallpaper or anything else, you have created a "distribution". ....

Re: Can't get ReactOS work.
To fix this I simply went into my "User Control Panel", went to "Board preferences" --> "Edit display options", and hit "Submit" without doing any changes.drakes wrote:(and why can't I see any edit function for postings?)

Re: Open Source, C++ aplications, ready to ship with ReactOS
1. Please edit your posts instead of double posting. 2. We have no objection to adding closed source software to the list. We have no prejudice against it and we stand by that, even when it meant getting removed from the list of I think it was the GNU's site of free software. Anyway, the barrier to...

Re: Open Source, C++ aplications, ready to ship with ReactOS
Found the link for adding things to Download!: http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6793&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=downloader.xml This may not be too difficult to accomplish, but the list is controlled internally by the devs and (I assume) only opensource appli...

Re: Open Source, C++ aplications, ready to ship with ReactOS
Although the idea sounds good and the list you provided has a lot of applications I personally use, one of the big issues you'll find is that not all people want to download an OS filled with a ton of applications they'll never use. There is also the fact that I don't really want to have to download...

I guess the release I tried previously had a regression in it. Thanks for pointing it out!

Re: ReactOS on ReactOS
Sure - http://i44.tinypic.com/jl1892.png I was using ReactIT V0.9D to test sound the lazy way, but couldn't stand the HDD size limitations so I created a new 1GB vmdk, upped the RAM to 512MB and did a fresh install of build 40675. After that I simply installed Firefox and downloaded the official QEM...

ReactOS on ReactOS
Just for fun (yeah, I have no life) I decided to check and see if I could get ReactOS running within ReactOS. Lo and behold QEMU now successfully loads and runs ReactOS within a QEMU virtualized ReactOS. I actually tried this a few months ago to no avail so there's definitely been some great progres...

Re: Windows Seven Taking Out A Boat-Load
Did you read the whole thing? "The latest beta of Windows 7 blocks the usage of third party video decoders from Windows Media Player. Microsoft says this restriction will not take place in the final version of Windows 7." Obviously MS wants beta testers to test their new codecs for now ins...
