Re: ODBC

Yes PurpleGurl, I agree. The implementation should be as close to the MS one as possible. But if there is code to be reused, why not reuse it?

Re: Wallpapers

Nice designs garetjax. Some little suggestions, why not use the same font usually used in ReactOS logos? and I think that the wallpapers in the center should read "ReactOS" instead of "REACTOS". :)

Re: ODBC

Maybe they can sponsor a port of unixODBC... the problem would be, who can do this? Anyway, I think its better that they use a mature alternative such as a Linux based solution...

Re: ODBC

As far as I know, ODBC support in ReactOS is non existant. It depends on wine ODBC implementation, which depends on Linux ODBC implementation. A developer with more knowledge than myself could elaborate more on the subject.

Re: [CALL] "Reactiving" the World. Designs

Good point Murmur, but there should be different marketing strategies for different people. For example, to home users I think that a friendly image is a good thing. However, as you have said, to business it is a completely different matter altogether. Promotional material should be designed with th...

Re: [CALL] "Reactiving" the World. Designs

A little offtopic but anyway FWIW... I think we need a cute mascot, cute mascots sell!!!! but our developers are far too serious to like these ideas :D

Re: Recruiting

We don't have to look too far to find a project that has a correct organization. Look at our friends at Haiku. They are as small as us, but they have a pretty good organization and seem to move very fast. One important point about them is that instead of alienating their userbase they work with them...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

The idea of a Community Coordinator (or a Link between IRC and Forum) is a nice idea, but its tasks are quite similar to our Project Coordinator tasks(Fireball). Yup, but i was thinking more at a "user" level. I always thought about fireball as a project manager, the head of ReactOS. But we need so...

Re: Organisation of non-developers?

Everything is better said than done but i propose the following: - Create a "Community Integration Team" with a coordinator. This team would create and think ideas/tasks to get users involved for the advance of ReactOS. Users interested in doing a task would talk to a member of the team, and will be...

Re: Kernel function names

Got the answer from the Windows Internals book.
Both are internal functions.
Naming convention is:
First letter of the component prefix + i
Or, full component prefix + p

Kernel function names

Hi, i see that there are three main types of functions exported, private and internal, i.e.: HalXXX, HalpYYY, HaliZZZ. Between exported and private functions the difference seems clear to me, but i don't understand the difference between private and internal. It would be great if someone could expla...
