Re: My reactOS Concept
Hmm... It's a good start, though there are a few things you've yet to learn: 1. A good UI is more than just transparency. What separates a good theme from a bad one is not only flash, but usability and comfort. The shapes and colors we surround ourselves with has a profound effect on our state of mi...

Re: desktop layout concept
To be fair, I haven't looked at it in a while, but...
That whole "Desktops" thing by Microsoft isn't a real workspace manager, it just creates multiple instances of the explorer desktop and provides a tool to switch between them, which causes a number of problems.

Re: Omitting the title bar?
Well, it's pretty simple to have a borderless window using the Win32 API - you just create a window class that has the necessary flags. Arguments against: How will the user drag the window? How will the user KNOW how to drag the window? By having some windows look different, consistency is broken. ...

Omitting the title bar?
Perhaps, for certain fitting applications included with ROS, we can omit the title bar altogether and replace it with something more space-saving? Let me show you what I mean: http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/5641/sakanadesu.jpg *Warning! Please excuse the incompleteness of that mock-up! I quickly e...

Re: desktop layout concept
Personally, I prefer to have only one task-bar, which is why the first thing I do with any fresh *NIX desktop is to rearrange it so that it's basically Windows. That said, the possibility of having multiple task bars is something that GNOME has and Windows does not. I'd be interested ito see how ma...

Re: A Modern Operating System
Why do I have to keep repeating this? I fully understand ROS is in early-alpha stage, and worrying about themes is the last thing we should be doing at the moment. However, this DOESN'T mean that any discussion about ROS that pertains to things that won't matter for a while are automatically pointle...

Re: A Modern Operating System
hi A Modern Operating System can not be judged by the interfase but what the Operating System can do for the user what ever the power of the users computer if you have most of the system resources going to the ui then you do not have enough system resources for the softwhere that you need to run Th...

Re: A Modern Operating System
By the context of my reply I was obviously referred people who judge things by how attractive they look. My apologies to everybody else. You mean the majority of human beings? It's this kind of elitist attitude of "Non-geeks are idiots, and idiots aren't allowed to use our stuff!" that ho...

Re: NuoveXT icon set
It actually resembles a modern windows like icon theme And that's really the biggest problem with it. ROS should go for its own look instead of dickriding other systems (Almost all of these are basically Vista or OS X icons with some slight retouches), but that's just me... Ultimately I think we sh...

Re: Big Wallpapers List - Put wallpapers here
So far only the logo on the AVAnto 's work looks good. Rest of the contributions is very poor. Try harder guys. Really? Chartreuse is a great color for a highway sign, but not for a desktop that's supposed to blend into the background. It screams "Fisher Price" even louder than Luna does....

Some of them are quite good, though they're a bit small... Default wallpapers should have high resolutions and scale down (1600x1200 for 4:3, 2560x1600 for 16:10).
Although in all honesty I think it would make everyone here feel a bit better if the artist himself gave a statement, no?

Re: Clinging to Windows Classic
By bottom-corners, I meant the corners that the taskbar was in. My bad, thanks for correcting me. Surely we can make that an option, though I do think making "Gestures" continue to work in fullscreen apps would be a problem, no? Consider the "Corners of the screen puts it into a scree...

IMO the screen corners should be put to a better use than activating a screensaver... Fitts's law.

Re: Clinging to Windows Classic
Sorry I blew up like that, I kinda went out of line. Though the stickied topic is greatly appreciated <3 Back on topic! While we're at it, something that always bothered me is how auto-hiding the taskbar works. If your mouse goes anywhere near the bottom of the screen, the taskbar pops right back up...
