For this task which requires speed and reliability I would be hesitant to recommend the incomplete ReactOS. Personally I would go with a Gentoo system with a centralised LTSP server like here.. http://www.gentoo.org/news/en/gwn/20050509-newsletter.xml They never got the openmosix idea working but if...

B, A, A, Open Office, E, A 1) As previously mentioned, it would be best to do it once and properly instead of a collection of hacks. Wine is using option A and as an example, the latest release has broken start menu functionality for several applications. (They don't see it as being there and the in...

So we'll introduce 3D desktop APIs. Thing is I haven't met that many serious computer users who are willing to upgrade to Longhorn as it appears to be becoming and software developers will always seek backwards compatability. Here's a thought though, Longhorn is coming out in 2006 (current timetable...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v688/rastilin/startmenu.jpg As you can see I do absolutely nothing, I believe the original Windows default works fine. To be honest I don't really mind what happens, if the default GUI works ok then I won't bother editing it. It might help you to understand me if y...

A user-configurable scheduling system would be a very good idea, in my opinion. A user configurable system would be perfect, especially if it can be set to extremes in either direction and is easily accessable from a menu setting (not in the registry). I would really appreciate some factual numbers...

Yes but the seeding is a problem. You really cant force people to seed the packets they've just downloaded and that's why I have my doubts about the bittorrent based solution, since bittorrent needs lots of seeders in order to work properly. Several people will make an effort but I'm not planning t...

Erm. I don't see any problem. Why can't the software just offer links to original sites? Straight to the installer. When you start the software it queries the master server about the list of available software but when the user downloads/installs i.e. MSN Messenger with it, it downloads the packet ...
