@florian: I am aware of this software. But anyway I think there should exist a small default command-line tool for secure overwriting in ROS itself. Windows provides a similar solution, called cipher.exe to overwrite the free disk space.

As I have already mentioned in another thread, I think it would be useful to have a way to erase files by a secure overwriting method and respectively the possibility to destroy already deleted data correctly with a secure overwriting method.

Secure overwriting

As some of you know, Windows also offers a program to overwrite free disk space to wipe already deleted files. I'ts called cipher.exe.

Since, this topic becomes more and more important, I think that ROS should offer a similar solution to destroy deleted files correctly for more security.

Btw: There is already a fixed qemu.exe for 0.9.1
