Hoffen wir, dass es mittelfristig häufiger vergleichbare Berichte Victor Perevertkin hired full-time to work on...

Siehe Download-Seite unter "How to choose?" im rot markierten Satz: "If you wish to install ReactOS o...

Like the not really opensource-project called MS Shared Source Initiative.

Sorry for any misunderstandings. I'm not a native speaker.

Re: Why is ReactOS based on a 17-year-old version of Windows?

If one cannot create a bicycle, one shouldn't try to create a Boeing... Let's assume that our developers are probably no masochists and that they know best where to start. Windows Vista is based on Server 2003, and 7 is based on Vista. But once you get to Windows 8, Microsoft had to really slim down...

Nichts. Darum meine Quellenkritik an besagtem Blogautor.

And let's not forget the ReactOS FAQ with answers to frequently asked questions such as

- Why ReactOS? Why clone Microsoft Windows™?
- Why don't you help develop Wine/Linux instead?
- Why is ReactOS development so slow?

Again: Please read our ReactOS FAQ.

Re: Two decades later...what's the point?

Another answer would be that WINE benefits from ReactOS, too. You could check for instance names as Martin Fuchs or Can Taşan (Compare https://wiki.winehq.org/Who%27s_Who). Not to mention unknown patches or hints to other projects and their developers.

Re: exFAT filesystem and specifications to be open-sourced by Microsoft

No, it does only help Linux. "No solution is Microsoft's release for other open source operating systems, such as the BSD family or ReactOS. The Linux patent pool of the Open Invention Network is just there to protect Linux and its developers from patent claimants' claims. This is not true for other...

Well, I don't know whether " Dr. Memory: the memory debugger " is useful or not. Anyway, here we go: Dr. Memory is a memory monitoring tool capable of identifying memory-related programming errors such as accesses of uninitialized memory, accesses to unaddressable memory (including outside of alloca...

Our Support-Forum would have been the better place for your question.

Can anyone move it to Support?

It's 0.4.11 - and still apha! Alpha "The alpha phase of the release life cycle is the first phase to begin software testing (alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, used as the number. Probably developers don't like "we expect" as it can imply a demanding connotation. But hopefully Quim's expression meant rather something like "looking forward". That's how I would read it (as a non-developer).

Re: Switching the target to the NT 6.x kernel might save R&D time in the long run

It may be merely an English translation issue. Quim may not understand the nuance that his "we expect" comments give. Maybe, for French for example, there is an "undefined" plural personal pronoun, "On". It's a little difficult to explain, but it's like a "We" but in a general meaning. You can be i...
