ISO C90 C.
I have used other languages including C++, Java and various dialects of BASIC, but the fact is that C is the best programming language of all time. OF ALL TIME.

Re: 0.3.11 Released
I've noticed that the icons for each program seemed to get mixed up at around 4:40 - Winamp has the Firefox icon and Firefox has the mIRC icon. Is this Bug 4186?gabrielilardi wrote:Please watch and vote the 0.3.11 video.

NT 3 and 4 Driver Model
Hello all, I seem to recall reading somewhere that early versions of Windows NT (3.x and 4.0) didn't use the WDM design for device drivers. Since VxD was only used by the Windows 9x series and WDF was only introduced fairly recently with Windows Vista, can anyone tell me the name of the driver model...

Thanks for the advice, Ged. I'll pick up a copy of the 4th edition once I've had a read through the 5th.

Re: NT Tutorials?
"Microsoft Windows Internals" (4th Edition) by Mark Russinovich and David Solomon. Great Book. On a somewhat related note, my copy of Windows Internals (5th Edition) arrived yesterday. I was inspired to buy it in order to more fully understand ReactOS at a lower level. I'm wondering, thou...

Re: The new Explorer
I dunno if the new explorer has a multiple desktops feature built in to it, since it's supposed to be almost identical to the Windows 2000 explorer.PetruDimitriu wrote:As a suggestion, I'd like to have an option which lets me choose how many desktops I want to have (say between 1 and 10).

Re: Free Operating Systems That Aren't Linux
Seems that some think free is only GPL, are all those OS's gpl'ed? PureDarwin is licensed under the Apple Public Source License. OpenSolaris is licensed under the Common Development and Distribution License. BSD is licensed under the BSD license. Haiku is licensed under the MIT license. ReactOS is ...

Re: Windows 7 compatibility?
Vista famously used DirectX 10, whereas Windows 7 ships with DirectX 11.FlyingIsFun1217 wrote:But were there as many API additions as xp->vista, for example, or were there just some changes here and there to 7? Do we even know?

Re: 16bit component removal
This is from the old days when Windows 3.11 and Windows 95 were around, right? WINE still supports them in addition to the newer NT-based systems.Haos wrote:Came from wine within Vendor Drop. ReactOS has not a line of 16bit code, but wine does implement it. This is why it had to be removed.

Re: FAT48
I seem to recall that NTFS deals with unexpected crashes much more elegantly than FAT does. Essentially, NTFS offers better security, reliability, larger file size support and probably a load of other things that I've forgotten. Ext* probably does this too, from what little I can recall about it rig...

Re: Element Software partnership?
As of GPL Licence - do they have to publish the changed sources of any ReactOS related code? I'm not so familiar with GPL Licences. The GUI could be still closed source if I'm right. Maybe someone could answer this? Here's a quick and simple guide to the world of GPL licensing: The GPL requires tha...

Re: DOS emulation layer
Is there any documentation about how Windows handles Dos app? Is there a difference in the executable that it looks for or something. My idea is to write a wrapper around DOSbox to auto-launch dos apps and their installers. I don't know a lot about this personally, but I do know one thing that may ...

Re: desktop gadgets support
The only time that I have seen someone use the gadgets in Vista was when a guy I know added "Simon is gay" as a sticky note to the sidebar on a laptop belonging to someone else. It has now been there several months and Simon has yet to remove it. Of course, I'm aware that some people will ...
