Re: Aspects of Vista/7/8/10 that should NOT be ported to React

One of the super annoying things to me about current windows operating systems(that doesn't apply to reactos yet) is automatic update settings being changed automatically or ignored without user interaction. If I tell my system do not check for updates I don't want to see a prompt several hours late...

Re: C++/DX Runtimes idea

The OS intercept idea is pretty much what I originally suggested. I was slightly hoping that the all in one type library might already exist somewhere though most of what I found in my searches basically just take all the existing installers together with no space optimization that they care to ment...

C++/DX Runtimes idea

I know ahead of time this probably won't be done anytime soon just want to get the idea out there before I forget it. When you install windows software on your computer it frequently loves to install some version or another of c++ runtime or directx regardless of if you have it or not. in the end yo...

Real hardware 0.4.9

Did some minimal testing of 0.4.9 on a hand me down pc I got from a relative. currently do not have a hard drive for it since relative wanted to keep data on old hard drive so used live cd version. The computer was an HP Pavilion Slimline which has a amd sempron processor and originally had windows ...

Re: Improve Visual Basic 6.0 support in ReactOS

Refering to a few posts back. In the past Sharpdevelop said no to running on Mono because they had a lot of APIs they depended on that Mono did not support and they pointed to MonoDevelop fulfilling that need. Think it was around this time that they dropped support for building Mono applications as ...

Re: Blog: Spilling the Wine

I seem to recall some versions of the windows task manager being able to keep track of the number of GDI handles for each proccess. Probably thinking about the XP or Vista version. it was some sort of column option. may not be a precise method but you could probably tell if a leak was present. this ...

Re: My two cents on priorities

if I recall mono does not support WPF and has no intention of supporting it in the future. As WPF is kinda the default GUI framework for .net 3.0 and up it means mono will not support many modern .net programs. Or at least that is what I read into it. This is the main reason I would see to fork mono...

Re: EPIC WIN!

That particular issue was actually a regression. you used to be able to get to the contents of drives with the current explorer though it would open a new window each time you did. now no new windows open and no contents are displayed. Think it is some sort of graphics refresh issue. I am also aware...

Re: EPIC WIN!

ReactOS liveCD(livecd-58736-dbg) now boots to desktop on my samsung NP-QX410-SO2US. couldn't do much once there because my laptop only gets internet over wireless and the file explorer is still as crappy as it was the last time I tried it if not worse. Some bugs I noted 1.the explorer wouldn't displ...

Re: Reactos Market/Store/Marketplace/Play :)

Ubuntu is an exception rather than the rule from what I understand, and were among the first to allow paid software. It is progress, though I am taking a wait and see approach for now as I have had rather poor luck with linux distros supporting my hardware configuration including a few that were sup...

Re: Reactos Market/Store/Marketplace/Play :)

Nooooooooo. Not another market place. Please don't. One of the top things I hated about windows 8 was this idea of a market place which meant that the main way to get applications was through the market place. This goes for mac and linux as well. I know someone is going to say software repositories ...

Re: Website Revamp: Your feedback is very needed !

Equations are probably a poor defense as it is forced to make an assumption about who is better at solving which equations that may fail based on several factors such as previous experience with the problem. I still think it is unlikely that we could find anything that would effectively shut down al...

Re: Why ReactOS is failing in Virtual PC?

Sometimes fixing a bug reveals another bug that depended on the former bug to appear to function properly. or at least that is my guess. I haven't looked at the source code.

Re: Download ReactOS Trunk Builds

I know rel means release and dbg means debug. release in this case meaning the version that doesn't include all the info required for debugging. As for dbgwin I assume it is a debug version and win typically means windows so it might be a debug version for windows but I am just guessing on that from...

Re: Website Revamp: Your feedback is very needed !

I posted a bug on this before. I think it was resolved as won't fix. can't be sure since my link to the web page specific bug reporting page is dead. I also mentioned it in a post on the second page of this topic.
