Re: MSVC Compiler Support
Why can't PDBs and other such things be supported by an open source compiler? Why can't something that makes development easier be used? Microsoft is not going to be happy if Microsoft tools that are closed source are used to compile an open source version of Windows. MS sells VS and the compilers,...

Re: MSVC Compiler Support
Open source code potentially has fewer bugs because anyone with the necessary skill set can inspect the code. A lot of those people use that skill to code for something that pays; even work on the Linux kernel is done by hired developers rather than just user contributions. As far as using MS VS is...

It is open source, but nothing has been updated to reflect that as of yet.

Re: Reactos Torrent
The torrent is not official and the site hosting the torrent has no relation to the project.

Re: ReactOS in developing countries?
It could also be beneficial to startup companies that require multiple Windows licenses for operation but cannot afford them.

The guide is not in its best state, but I think it is what you want to do.

Re: [Wiki] Improving quality
I think I get what you mean, but I don't think everything should be separated into different pages. The lead paragraph should introduce the reader to what the article is about, and if interested they would continue to read (checking the TOC if the article is long enough). Each section should then ha...

Re: [Wiki] Improving quality
Which is why I posted on the forum; so it could be up for discussion. I never said and do not expect one person to do all of this (it is a Wiki after all).d0g wrote:What you want to do is not a task for a single individual.

Re: [Wiki] Improving quality
Not worthwhile ATM. That is like saying fixing bugs in ReactOS is not worthwhile at the moment. The developers seldom touch the Wiki anymore, leaving a lot of it lacking. It gives people who cannot code and want to contribute something to do. There is a complete lack of volunteers, but that does no...

Re: Remove or update the road map...
[...]the roadmap needs some love indeed Along with updating dates and milestones, the Proposed Roadmap should also be linked to it (and discussed with the developers). lets see if i get the rights to do it. The lists of user groups needs to be reviewed. Three of the six sysops/Bureaucrats are inact...

Re: Remove or update the road map...
The Roadmap page has a sysop protection on it, so a sysop has to edit it. The problem with that being is that they do not check up on it often, because it is trivial compared to developing the operating system. It does not suggest there is not going to be a 0.3.12 release; 0.3.12 is listed for plann...

Re: Angelus' Wallpapers
ReactOS Bliss v2 looks nice for a Bliss replacement. And the contrast in ReactOS7 makes the logo look so vibrate.

[Wiki] Improving quality
The Wiki is an important resource to the project, allowing readers to learn more about the project. The organization and accuracy of the Wiki reflects on the organization and commitment of the project as a whole. I would like to put out some ideas that would improve the quality of the Wiki and promp...
