DirectX 10 for ROS and real XP?
I know that ReactOS plans to implement a DX9 environment, but given the state of Windows... would it be possible to leapfrog DX9 and create a DirectX10 compatible system. Given that ROS will eventually emulate XP, there would be a huge demand for a working DX10 clone that ran under REAL XP, as well ...

Like I said, if you want to continue this, lets start another thread. As for the OEM comment being irrelevent, I suggested that not using a more sophisticated Notepad might not appeal to OEM's who would seek a more 1 to 1 replacment than a suped up RoS. You're demeaning comment was ... reactOS simpl...

They are cool Tom, but in reality pressing a Mini-CD or Mini DVD raises the cost per unit for the book. You would actually end up chargning more, or making less money. I think a full size DVD or CD with the Full OS and a nice batch of OpenSource applications would be a MUCH cooler than a Tiny Disc. ...

i disagree. OEMs will ship with windows because that's what people know. OEMs don't ship with anything other than windows because that's what the world essentially uses (i mean really, ~90% market share). The thing is people DON'T know Windows. They know buying games and other software off the shel...

Multimedia/Gamming My reasons are #1) It's the hardest to do. #2) It will have a trickle down effect on all others as Online Gaming, will force better networking, and higher graphics power will help with Office apps too. #3) It Windows #1 strength, and Linux's biggest weakness. When Half Life and St...

The problem with Reactos is the target audience. Most people here seem to think that first target will be the average Joe. I'm sorry guys, but this won't happen, no chance a guy like this is going to even think about installing a new OS... :( No... but an OEM might very well install it for them. If...

Replacment files for Dummies?
One thing I would like to see in the organizational area of ReactOS is a file by file table breakdown of what file exists in Win2K, WinXP Home, WinXP Pro, and ReactOS, a breif description of what that file does, and maybe a simple guestimate of how well the ReactOS version currently replaces the &qu...

I just resented the implication that because I CHOOSE ReactOS I MUST be too cheap to buy software. I spent $2600 on Lightwave 3D so far, but I'm learning Blender at the moment. Not because I'm too cheap to keep upgrading Lightwave, but because I'm too afraid of Windows Vista tracking my personal inf...
