OS drivers are in general smaller than closed source drivers. I havent seen a hard disk space with my linux because of the drivers. Most of the drivers are in the kernel, and the kernel is realy small.

Hard disk space is no problem today, and its much easier for the user if the drivers come with the os. Open source drivers are a must, so they can be distributed with the os, and the os can be ported to other architectures. if a hardware company dies, the driver still exists and can be developed (ha...

as i said in the other thread, open source is always better than closed source. Also, with open source drivers you can ship them directly with reactos and you dont have to download them later.

its always better to have open source drivers. What is if you use reactos on powerpc? the binary drivers will not work!! thats the reason why open source is so important

ros explorer is a) a exelent promo and b) when im on windows i would prefer to have ros explorer just because of the 4 desktops, and it looks cooler than the xp one. But atm its too buggy and nothing works realy. But well, im on linux, dont realy need it, but at school it would be great

its illegal to dissasemble. But its perfecly legal to implement functions from a API in a way that it works like the real one. Just never dissasemble and steal code. ReactOS never stole code, so, no problem

im using mandrake and i nearly dont have any problems you have.. but i agree that there is much room to improve, but thats why freedesktop.org exists, to unify those things..
But thats a reactos forum, not a linux one ;-)

well, like on a linux desktop. You have normaly one, on max, two players installed, but on the cds you have much more of them, so there is a default choice

i totaly agree, like on linux where you have 10 or more players that come with the installation and you can chose which one you want
