I'm not sure if the UNIATA driver, responsible for recognising IDE and 
SATA drives, can handle every controller available. No idea if AHCI is 
supported.

Anyway, thanks for the detailed info about your harddisk and laptop. 
Unfortunately that doesn't tell anyone automatically what controller is 
used (AMD, Intel, Via, Marvell, Silicon Image, etc), in what mode (IDE 
legacy emulation or AHCI) and at what speed.

Should you wish to experiment with ReactOS, best thing right now is a 
virtual machine like VirtualBox for example. On the other hand, if 
wanting to resolve this hardware issue, some slightly more detailed info 
could be handy.
