Well at some point there is not much you can do. ReactOS is incomplete and unstable as it is still in alpha. You cannot expect it to function 100% correctly. Granted, its a lot better. A year or so it was a challenge to get it to boot.

Some things, like explorer, are not in the best shape and the only thing you can do is to join the project and assist in the development and improve those aspects and the underlying system component. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that someone had written a new and improved explorer implementation for ROS but it is waiting on the completion of some underlying system components that are needed in order for it to run.

Resolution is now 1024×768 @ 24 bit color depth.

However, I found my ReactOS installation to go very slowly after trying to 
install software (Acrobat Reader).

And: When creating a new desktop icon, the whole desktop freezes, and all 
icons and even the taskbar disappear.
