I think it is easier because in german there are many who would like to 
work for the translation.  it shouldn't be a standalon-project i think. 
the project should be a daughter-project. on other opensource-projects 
like openoffice there are also seperate daughter-projects. an it is 
nice.... there is much work for a languge project: translating the 
mainsite, translate the program, ...
