I'm integrating greenie's changes to allow Edijus to continue working on
explorer-new.

There was a code review,
http://code.reactos.org/cru/CR-14
to which nobody seemed to have any objections, and testing says it works
better than before - so we figured future work should be based on the
project results rather than the current state.
